President Biden thread

Published

Wow.  No one has started such a thread yet?

After promising that most K-8 students would be in schools in the first 100 days,  apparently Joe is afraid to lead on this and has drastically scaled back that goal.

Instead, we're shooting for about half to go to school at least one day a week,  by the end of April.

That's an interesting point of view given that the American economy trends to perform better under liberal political leadership than it does under conservative political leadership...in almost every measurable area.  The trickle down economic theory promoted by conservatives since Reagan hasn't exactly been a source of economic growth for the working members country like it has been for a the wealthy.  You knew this, right?

Or maybe your media has you convinced of something else, that isn't supported by the evidence, about the American economy and how it is influenced by and performs under republican vs democratic economic policy. There's lots of information and comparative analysis available.

I wanted to see Fox New's take on this and predictably they are having a field day over Biden's another failed promise from his "bully pulpit" as he hurls insults at reporters. It's their headline story online.  Guess I can't blame them after all it was their reporter he called a stupid SOB.

I wonder if it's dementia that he didn't realize his mic was on.  Or is he in his right mind in making an accurate statement.  LOL

Totally in his right mind and I'm sure understandably frustrated with Peter Doocey...as IMHO he is NOT a journalist, as Fox a has stated they are an entertainment organization and NOT a news organization. And President Biden, was man enough to realize that his response might not have been the most appropriate, called him up to apologize. I would venture to say that did not happen in the pervious administration

I've seen this several times, mostly here.  Would you be so kind as to provide a link for this?

It's not actually a thing.  There are several FOX entities and I think most people are referring to the FOX News Network where shows like Hannity live as cable entertainment not news when they say such things.  There's a difference between how Fox Broadcasting is regulated as they broadcast over the air rather than a cable platform.

The Legal Defense For Fox's Tucker Carlson: He Can't Be Literally Believed : NPR

I don't know why but since I upgraded to Windows 11 my url links can't be activated; you will have to cut and paste.  Actually, it was Tucker Carlson's lawyers who convinced federal judge Mary Kay Vyskocil (Trump appointee) that TC's show was entertainment, not news and that anything he says on the show should not be construed as truth.  Fox won this slander suit on the basis that he just makes stuff up and caveat emptor to the listeners.  He's also the reason Shepard Smith left Fox's self-proclaimed "news" division...he was just not loony enough to stay on the same network as TC and had enough dignity to leave.

Is this the article you're referring to: You Literally Can't Believe The Facts Tucker Carlson Tells You. So Say Fox's Lawyers?

As it appears to have been made as a statement of fact, perhaps @NutmeggeRN will come back and explain what exactly he or she was trying to say.

Maybe.  I think they were saying that one should take what they hear or see on Fox cable programming with a grain of salt unless it can be verified by a less biased source because the vast majority of the content is opinion and infotainment that is not terribly committed to accuracy.  I'll be interested to see if I interpreted the remarks correctly.

Perhaps, however if this was the message he or she was trying to convey, in my opinion it could have been stated much clearer.

Excellent advice, regardless of source.

It should be standard practice for all of us.  Single source stories are always suspect, in my view.

Yes.  I remembered the case from September because TC's defense was so ludicrous it gave me a much needed laugh.
