For me is that I simply do NOT have the money. I'm trying to scrounge some up from anybody in my family so that I can upgrade some time within the next two days, but it's not easy. I'm going to be working A LOT during the summer, so I'll more than likely become one in June or July. So, that's my unfortunate truth.
Yep, money here. We just bought a house and every spare dime goes into it. It is even to the point of me driving a car that sputters all 15 miles to work, barely can afford groceries, and heck with any extras like renting a movie or something....
I hope to soon, but till then I get to stay this way. It gets tough when every single dollar you earn has a destination away from you before that paycheck gets in your hands....
I did ask for premium membership for nursing appreciation week though from my family :)...maybe that will get me in!
I can hit this from the opposite side. I didn't upgrade for the extra stuff. I just saw it was such a great resource and wanted to help support it. I had a few extra bucks I could swing this way as well, so I wouldn't down anyone that can't. I woulod hope no one would feel guilty if they don't have the money. I've been there, and will probably be there again...lol.
I can see I will use these forums for many years, so much great info.
I became a Premium Member when it first became available, then let it lapse for a while before renewing. I wasn't particularly interested in most of the benefits and couldn't see spending the money. I actually HAVE the money -- but try not to waste money anyway.
Eventually, I found it frustrating not to able to respond to certain posts and my personal mailbox got full. That was enough reason for me to renew the upgrade.

I joined because I think it's a great site and I wanted to help support it. The Premium Membership started because itwas tough for the owner to get enough good, reliable sponsors to keep it afloat. I do know a few years ago that a lot of other good sites were having the same problem.
As for paying, I do believe you can also pay by check.

For the record, I'm not asking this in any official capacity.
I'm just wondering what kinds of things hold people back from upgrading to Premium membership. The cost? Not feeling the need to post in premium forums? Not having ever really considered it? Other reasons I haven't thought of?
Again, I'm not acting as a mod in this post. I'm just being curious. It took me about six months to upgrade. I wanted to reach a point where I felt I would be sticking around. And I wanted to see if I really felt the site was worth paying for. I guess the answer is obvious. :)
Thanks for your input.
