Does you unit offer any incentives or bonus pay to train/precept new nurses to your unit?
Nope, it's in our job description. So is being charge btw. If I could get payed extra for being charge then I might be a little more proactive in pursuing that charge class this fall...
I get an extra $2/hr when I'm charge in the ED. Trust me, I often pass up the "opportunity" to be in charge because lately, the extra responsibility is totally not worth the extra $16 that I will net for the night.
But, if you could take the class without being expected to be in charge, it would probably be a good learning experience and one that you could benefit from.

Teaching Institution.
It's an expectation, and the clinical ladder (with increased responsibilities), increases salary in 10% increments.
The RN does get a lighter assignment while the preceptor and orientee are working together
