CPR cert. cost?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I am just wondering how much (if anything) it cost to become CPR certified for everyone else. To be accepted into any of our nursing programs (LPN/RN) we have to be certified. I just *assumed* it would be free because back at home, it is. Out here in CT it cost $50.00.

$65/8 hours at local community college.

The CPR for Professional Rescuers that I had to take was $65 (through Red Cross). The refresher course was also about that, although it was only 4 hours. My college offered classes through the American Heart Assoc. that were slightly cheaper, which I of course did not notice until I had already taken the Red Cross training.

Here in Texas, it cost me $20 through a local ambulance service/company that offers the class once a month. Also, it is available through our community college for like $40. So check around your area. Good Luck!

I took it through school. They offer a 1 credit hour AHA BLS course. Cost me around $36 (which is what it costs per credit hour at my school).

If your school doesn't offer something like this, you can call your local fire department & see if they offer classes. Those usually aren't too expensive either.

I got mine throught work but don't remember how much it cost me.

Shop around. Call hospitals, ambulance co., and your local chapters of AHA, or the red cross etc.

Once you are certified, re-certification costs less.

Good luck.:)

ours was $30, this guy came to the school on a saturday and held the class for us

The ambulance company I run with offers CPR and basic first aid free. I think it depands too on the instructor, my BF is an instructor and does the classes free to the public, since they are a valuable public service. Granted your training is limited to CPR and just basic first aid, but in an emeregency, that is what is needed at the start. I would cheeck around with various volunteer organizations and such, even if they are holding their own class they might be willing to allow you to sit in on CPR at no cost.

I paid $45 for Child/Adult CPR at the local fire station.

Check with local fire departments, ambulance services, etc....you should be able to get the Heartsaver CPR card for somewhere around $30 or less. Also, if you don't want the books, you can usually find someone willing to teach it for even less than $30, usually for the cost of the card, which is $5. Most of the actual class cost is for the card and the book, not necessarily for the instructor.

We don't have to be certified until after we are accepted in the program and they have a class every semester for cert and re-cert....the cert class costs around $30 (again, the book and card cost coming into play) and the recert is $10.

Good luck!!!

I also recommend the AHA over RC. I stupidly took the Red Cross refresher last summer when my AHA one had expired, and it wasn't until I got home that I realized that my card was only good for one year - the ones from AHA are good for two. So next summer I'm going back through AHA, and that will get me through the remainder of my nursing school years.
