Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

hi, I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same way I do. I really would like to be an RN and am looking into an ADN program at Fairmont State University.(WV) I'm just not confident that I'm "smart" enough to make it through nursing school. I read so many posts of people that are overwhelmed and doubting their decision to be an RN. I know i'm not stupid and I was a good student in high school. I'm not sure I'm smart enough to make it in an ADN program, IF I'm lucky enough to get into one. ANyone else feel "less than confident?":o

Definitely! I'm right there with ya! I'm taking my first semester of prereqs and am already having trouble trying to establish good study habits with a full-time job and three kids. I attend school four nights a week, so the weekends are really my only study time. I'm worried that if I'm having this much trouble now, what will things be like when I actually get accepted into nursing school?! Oh, well...one day at a time, I guess!:wink2:

Yes, I do....especially if you have a professor like I have who declared to the class today that he doesn't care about students but only about himself bringing food on the table. His teaching is terrible and nobody makes an A in his class so far. I got my labtest back and made the only A. I also heard from another professor that teachers in nursing school are really mean because of what we will have to deal with once we are nurses. I am not giving up though. I will continue all the prerequs and see what happens. I have come up with plan B if I won't get into nursing school. I try to do everything with as much dignity as possible.

Well - If I had found this site while in nursing school I would've been one of the ones saying how hard it was, and wondering if I was going to make it. But guess what? I did, and you will too. Have a little faith in yourself, others will follow

I doubt myself everyday. I have about 10 backup plans if i don't get into nursing school, but I still keep going for that goal. I think it's normal to doubt yourself.

I absolutely know I have what it takes to get through nursing school. I already have a BA in math/physics and an MS in math; after that, I feel like I can do just about anything. I amazed myself this weekend studying for my A&P exam; I was freaking out because I didn't know how I was going to get it all into my head. A few hours later I had memorized almost everything on my study guide. So either I already knew a lot more than I had realized, or else I have become eerily good at studying. ;) I think it's a little of both. My past college experience taught me how to study and learn on my own. Now if only my local community college will realize that my probability of succeeding in the program is higher than most of their other applicants...

I think it is common to feel this way especially when thinking of the "unknown".

I just pray to God I get in and the rest will be up to me.
