A&P 1: The Spring '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Ok, no one has started this yet, so I guess I will. I start A&P I on January 18th, lab and lecture.

Here are a few good websites I have found...some are basic, some may be more indepth than your instructor asks for.....BUT it gives you a little more to look over before class starts next month! :) ....Never forget the website for your actual book too!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU

I too am a nontraditional student. I have a 5 1/2 year old and a 2 1/2 year old. I am taking Physiology all by itself too, and I couldn't get into Anatomy...it was full when I got my chance to register. This is how it's offered at all the schools I've seen around here, one semester of Physiology, and one semester of Anatomy. I too am a little nervous about taking Physio first, but just getting into any class is an acomplishment these days.

Good luck to all : )

Hello everybody!!!!!

Happy New Year to all!!! I also start A&P I at the end of January, and I am very stressed out because this class will make me or break me. I HAVE TO get an A in this class and I hear it's alot of memorization. I am glad we can all share our experience this coming semester. I have to call the school and see what book we are going to use. I want to hit some of the websites posted here, but i just don't know where to begin and I don't want to focus on something that the professor might not even cover. Does anyone know what is covered first? :uhoh3: and do we really have to memorize all the bones? 10_9_134.gif

Well good luck all.....A&P here we come!!!!

Can I be a part of this club? I finished up the biology 156, chemistry, and psych classes 3 weeks ago and start Food and Nutrition and A&P1 on Jan 10th. I'm not sure how my A&P lab is going to go since this is an online class.

I will be using Marieb 6th edition also. I'm a little miffed because I want to be able to buy my book online, but I think my school packages extra stuff in with the sale of the book, so you HAVE to buy the book from them (they charge $232!) or you can't get the extra manuals you need. I find out more tomorrow cuz I'm going to trek down to the bookstore and see what's up. I had luck with my food and nutrition book though, I'm buying it cheap from someone who just finished their class.

My nursing program starts in May. I am going to be able to take the first year of the program even though I will still have 2 more prereqs. The prereqs then will have to be done in a semester and I can finish the 2nd year of the program and take the NCLEX. So that's my plan! I'm excited, but I know it's going to be stressful. Taking the accelerated biology, chem and psych all at the same time was almost not doable! BUt I managed to get A's in the labs and psych, and B's in the two lectures.

A formal intro- I am 23, and a mom of two boys, Nathan and Aaron. They are 4 and 1. I have a wonderful husband and we live in Phoenix.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome to our club lovin3angels, heatherp, minnielynn, and PhoenixGirl!

OK.....here are some hints:

I would make sure to be familiar with these terms: proximal, distal, lateral, and medial, sagittal, transverse, frontal, dorsal, anatomical position, and of course the definition/difference of anatomy and of physiology.

I'm sure all instructors will want you to know those, and I am also sure they will be used on test questions. This information should be found in the first chapter(s) of your book.

Next, try to familiarize yourself with parts of the cell.

As for bones, yes, you will have to learn all of them, unless you have a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY nice instructor. You probably will also have to learn the fissures, foramens, and other bone markings. (Hopefully all our instructors won't be extremely strict, and make us learn all of them!) :uhoh3:

I found that bones aren't that hard for me, but muscles are. You may know Pectoralis major, but do you know pectoralis minor? Sternocleiomastoid?

OK....don't be scared!! :uhoh21: Just take one day at a time, do your best, and allow yourself enough study time to do your best! :)

Welcome to the club kittykel and einsteinsboi!!

Good luck to ya!

Thanks Fun2Care. I like the Albert Einstein qoute on your sig. I like a lot of what he had to say. :coollook::)

Count me in! I start A&P 1 on January 5.

I finished A&P I last semester with an "A". Moving on to A&P II this semester and then Microbiology in the summer. I loved the labs. They were great! I think school is great. I graduated high school in 1985 and went back last year, so had alot of adjusting to do. So far, so good, GPA 3.86 and hope to keep it that way. We did kidney and heart disections and then this semester we will be disecting a cat (EWWW) I think it should be like a pig or something, I eat those. :chuckle If you all need help, let me know, I will point you in the right direction anyway.
