Positive Drug Test

Published

My greatest fear associated with TPAPN has been realized. I just found out my last uds was reported as "positive" for alcohol. I don't know if its just for a miniscule amount or not. I have requested a review of this but not sure what that entails. Has anyone else received a false positive and was the issue resolved fairly?

I sent you a pm.

The BON will likely order you to restart TPAPN and it can take anywhere from a couple months to 2 years to hear

Any update on your case?

Being new to TPAPN, this is one of my biggest fears.. what ever happened Tigerlilly? I hope it all worked out for you.

It all worked out in the end. I was ordered to re-enroll in TPAPN. All of my subsequent drug screens have been negative. I do, however have a disciplinary mark on my nursing license as a result of that 1 positive screen. I have moved on and don't dwell on the incident.

Oh my...i have thought about you often. I am so happy they didnt suspend your license for a year! I am under board order also. But as long as I comply, nothing is public. Hope you are working. Merry Christmas!

I am sorry you are going through this. I really pray for all nurses going through monitored programs.... I had a terrible experience, what I describe as the worst experience of my life. I had a false positive test for opiates... "massive amounts of opiates, heroin" I was told. I panicked when I received the news because I have been very careful with everything I eat/drink since I started the program 1.5 years ago. I immediately requested a higher level of testing. The next day I was selected for a hair test, a week later my hair test came back negative but the MRO decided to go with the first urine test because #1 I "volunteered" to take a hair test, and #2. Urine is the gold standard (I was told) .... Said test left me unemployed for almost 10 months, I had to go through rehab 4 days a week for 2 months, go to AA meetings, damaged my reputation and left me in financial ruin. It is sad that we have no much voice over these monitored programs. It feels like we are asked so much from this profession, we stick to the rules, but some of the case managers in these programs are not accountable for their actions, neither are the labs, I have found several inconsistencies. I pray for each and every nurse that goes through a monitored program. I pray for their licenses. I do not wish the misfortune I endured to anyone. To this day that false positive test remains a mystery... I want to think of it as a bad dream until I see my credit score and my bank accounts.... time to build up and put it in the past, and pray that it doesn't happen again.

On a sidenote.... DO we have a voice? Can a lawyer represent us in this? Do we even have a case?
