Positive Drug Test

Published

My greatest fear associated with TPAPN has been realized. I just found out my last uds was reported as "positive" for alcohol. I don't know if its just for a miniscule amount or not. I have requested a review of this but not sure what that entails. Has anyone else received a false positive and was the issue resolved fairly?

Do you have the right to demand a higher level of testing?

Do you know if it is just alcohol in the urine or etg. Can you ask for a more advanced test PEth/etg. If they aren't going to punish you then just let it pass.

I can remember the first time a girl tested positive for etg in my group in california, I didn't believe her until it happened to me.

Being told that you need to tell the truth and confess that I drank alcohol, when I didn't was one of the worse times in my life.

Because no mater what I did, I tested positive. I never drank alcohol and it wasn't my drug of choice.

Luckily Florida worked with me and let me pay for more advanced testing. What sucks is PEth (blood etg type test) test is still considered investigational.

I must admit that I sometimes thought people were lying when they claimed a false positive result-until it happened to me.

Did you actually have to state that you consumed alcohol? TPAPN is going to make a decision next Wednesday.

No. I never admitted drinking because I didnt. I didn't eat or drink anything. Alcohol and etg is a common test that can be a false positive.

I don't know plus I have to be careful with money as I have been unemployed since enrolling in TPAPN. TPAPN is going to discuss my case in staff meeting next week.

I've also never had a false positive and can't imagine the stress you it's be going through. Let us know how things end up .

Praying for you still. This really rocked my world. Doing everything I am supposed to with undercurrent of fear. Knowing this is happening, and it could be any one of us.

Thank you and everyone else, too. I will keep you posted.

When I was on Probation doing the testing, etc., I was given a HUGE page of things to avoid that would show up as positives and basically my program stated they didn't care if it was due to fermentation from food, cough syrup or if I drank a pint of gin---A positive was a positive and by golly, I had better NOT have one!! ( My probation had nothing to do with alcohol use or abuse, BTW)

I can't remember all the items, now, but I do remember these: real vanilla extract (made with alcohol), alcohol wipes/alcohol based hand sanitizers, cough syrups or other meds with alcohol as an ingredient, fermented foods-even soy sauce.... Can't remember more.... Wonder if there is a site on the web or on your BONs web that might list them?

Thanks for responding to my post. Yes, I was given a detailed list of items to avoid and I have accidentally consumed or used prohibited products a few times, I never tested positive before. For example, at the dog park I used the alcohol based hand sanitizer without thinking and once I ordered something at a restaurant and it arrived with poppy seeds in the sauce and it took me a few bites to realize. I also didn't realize PAM contained alcohol until very recently and used it regularly. I have been in the program and never tested positive before. I am starting to think human error at the lab is involved ie mixed up specimens.

Jw if they staffed your case yet?
