Hi all,I have a few questions about EC practice exams:Note: I am not trying to be noisy and try to find out people grades. I'm just trying to figure out how ready am I to test if I'm scoring 68-75 on the practice test. Also better strategies to improve my scores.TIA1. Did you study any before taking the first test form A or did you take the exam first then studied and finally took Form B?2. What kind of Grades were you getting on the test?3. If you got a low grade on the practice exams, what was your strategy to improve in that are?4. What was your final grade on your real exam?
SuesquatchRN, BSN, RN 10,263 Posts Dec 6, 2007 I've never gotten about a 72 on a practice exam and have never gotten lower than a B.My last one, 6, I got 67 without studying. 68 after. A on the actual exam.

Dec 7, 2007 I always took Form A after my first "pass" of studying (usually one complete read-through of a study guide of some sort). Then I'd see where I didn't do as well, and reinforce that -- more study guide reading or reading from a textbook. Then I'd do Form B. I always did better on Form B -- I usually improved by about 10 points. I scored in the 70s and 80s on most of my practice tests, and got mostly A's on the real things (I got a B on NC1, with a 75 and 85 on the practice tests). For A&P I never got out of the 60's but got a B on the exam.
nursingforever35 100 Posts Jan 19, 2008 I signed up to take my first Excelsior exam: Health and Safety. I also bought the practice exam. I took part A after studying for 3 hours. I made a 72. I feel the information is not that complicated. I will study more. The questions seemed rather easy. Also,Lunah, due to your success with the program thus far, I want to mimic everything you have done. You have been a major resource for me. There was a lot I did not know. Thank you.

Yes, Lunah has been the biggest inspiration to many of us and so has Txsspade. Everytime Lunah starts a thread, I get ready in amazement. Thanks to you ladies two exams already scheduled, third one on it's way.

Jan 21, 2008 Hi all~ 1.I didn't study at all before I took form A for Micro and then I setup my study schedule to brush up on my weak areas. I then studied for a week and took Mirco form B 3 days before my actual exam date to see if my studying paid off. I just took Essentials of Nursing Health and Safety form A today and I plan and using the same strategy as I did for micro.2.I scored 62(form A) and 75 (form b) for micro. Essentials of Nursing Health and Safety 87 (form a).3. I used the outline from the Excelsior micro study guide to base my studies on and I haven't started studying for Essentials yet (just took the practice test today).4.A in Micro and I'm scheduled to take Essentials:Health and Safety 2/2.
