Poll for those who have already taken NCLEX..

Published

For those of us who have already taken boards, please answer a few questions that might help ease the minds of those who are still waiting to test or for results. I know reading as much as possible about other people's experience helped me feel a little bit better while I waited.

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?

Good luck to those who are waiting and ++++ thoughts for those who are waiting on results!!

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX?

76

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course?

I skimmed through Saunder's CD

I skimmed through Mosby's CD

Took Kaplan review course and used all of their Q-Bank and Q-Trainer.

Bought a 3 week review on NCSBN and never made it halfway though; it was so loaded!

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)?

Hesi was mandatory in final semester. They hard sold us to take Kaplan; waste of time IMHO.

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting?

I waited 48 hours, paid $7.95 for the quick result.

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)?

I was numb and in agony. Couldn't remember any questions except the 2nd one that I still don't know if I got correct, and total disbelief at how difficult the questions were.

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX?

Yes. And passed!

The test was hard but it's not impossible to overcome. I get so many reinforcing praises fr RN's where I start work next week. They know what I went through!

Good luck to everyone here !! Study hard you can do it! :nurse:

Can u check your results online after taking the nclex exam if your in california??? does anyone know?

all depends on whether you have SSN or not. If not then you have to wait for mail which can take a few weeks. Also can take several days to show up on their website.

Can we try to keep this on topic and if asking about general results post a new thread

Thought I would resurrect this thread for those of us waiting--it is pretty interesting!

I'll be taking the NCLEX in only 3 wks. What review do you recommend I should use????? I'm extremely nervous & unsure, but want to get it over with. Also, to take it before the new exam on April 1st.

I have Saunders and Davis as of now. Do yo recommend others?

Please help.

Saunders for practice questions, Kaplan for strategy.

1. How many questions did you take on NCLEX? 75

2. What study materials did you use? Did you take a test review course? I did not take a review course--I couldnt afford it. I used my Saunders disk, a Mosbys disk and my all time favorite and what I belive the Nclex looks just like a Davis disk

3. Did your SON offer any testing (ERI, ATI, HESI)? ATI

4. How long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? I was blessed my license number was posted on our states (Indiana) site in less than 24 hours. By 0830 I was a Registered Nurse!

5. What were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? I had certanity that I passed and what a nice feeling that is!!! I did thousands of questions though to prepare. You can not do enough!!!

6. Was this your first attempt at NCLEX? Yes

I also slowed down or basically stopped studying 5 days prior to taking the test. I drove up a few days earlier to find the test site so I wouldnt be nervous about getting lost. I also belive in positive self thought, so the number 75 was going through my mind for weeks. I would envision a red line slopping above a black center mid way line. Best of luck. The paper I got from Pearson Vue ( test center) stated that 85% of new grads pass Nclex on the 1st try.....so odds are you will be fine. I can not stress enough though that quantity of questions matters in your prepeartion...do them fast-go with your gut instinct and read the rational for all choices.
