Polk State Spring 2020

Published

Hey everyone, I'm starting this thread for Polk State College Spring 2020 hopefuls. Right now, my total score is 111.15. I'm retaking my TEAS Wednesday (right now my TEAS score is 76) and I'm retaking Algebra summer II for a higher grade. We shall see how it goes...

I went and dropped off my letter of intent earlier today on campus. I am going to have to get use to that drive now.

I'm surprised it hasn't gotten to you yet since you know that I live in Orlando. Try contacting them tomorrow

Well it’s quite complicated for me, because I work for BayCare and they have a partnership with Polk state that saves 8 spots for the nursing program. So I’m not sure if I’ll be notified by my work or from Polk state..

I emailed the lady from my job and she said I’ll find out soon..

I was so sure I’d get my letter today, but nope. It sucks because, I work until 7pm tomorrow and Thursday; if it decides to even come either of those days..

Everyone that got theirs, where do you live if you don’t mind me asking?

Auburndale here ?

I live in Celebration.

Austin, when my sister got her acceptance last term (she works for LW hospital), it was PS that called her. The letter she received in the mail said she didn't get in (not even as an alternate), then they called her before orientation to say they had a spot for her.

Thank you! Hopefully I find out soon and not right before orientation:(

I'm alternate #25 with 110 points

Is anyone else still needing to take microbiology?? I wasn’t required to take it for my health science degree so I will be taking it at Polk during our first semester. Has anyone taken it at Polk before that can fill me in on what the class is like? At UCF it was pretty intense I heard.

I took it at UCF back in Fall 2013. I thought the class was really easy and straightforward in my opinion because we had over 300 people in my lecture class. Lab was pretty straight forward. You are going to have a big course load if you are taking micro first semester. We will be doing nursing fundamentals and pharmacology which is 12 credits alone. Just remain focused. You can do it with preserverance.

I took it online at HCC, super easy, easy A! As a transient student .

I took it at Polk, I’d say it was a bit less difficult than Anatomy, but it was definitely not a breeze in my opinion. I scored an A but I was also only taking 1 other class at the time so I had a lot of time to study. Who will you be taking it with?

I also took it online as a transient student at HCC. Got an B in lecture and an A in lab. Evened out to an 88 B. I could have gotten an A, but slacked off on the midterm and bombed it. Easy class.

My alternate packet just said they would call me if a spot opened up. I am required to attend orientation even if I haven't heard back yet. When are your "letters of intent" due?? Maybe alternates will start getting calls after that date for any spots not spoken for.

They are due by 9/20
