Polk State Spring 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone, I'm starting this thread for Polk State College Spring 2020 hopefuls. Right now, my total score is 111.15. I'm retaking my TEAS Wednesday (right now my TEAS score is 76) and I'm retaking Algebra summer II for a higher grade. We shall see how it goes...

Hello,

Im reapplying for the Spring too. My total score is 107.5 with a TEAS score of 74. I work for BayCare and they have a program that saves 8 spots for team members that work at the hospital (Winter Haven). They take the top 8, considering both GPA and TEAS, along with other qualifications.

I feel hopeful this time around!! ?

I retook my TEAS and it only went up to a 76.7, lol. Hopefully my algebra grade stays an A. If so, I think I'll have around a 114 final points.

Any idea what the cut off is usually around for the spring term??

Hello :)

I will be applying for the program next month too. Currently studying to take my teas in a few weeks. I completed my Bachelor’s in health science at UCF in 2017, started applying to PA school but then reconsidered my options and decided to go with nursing and eventually NP instead!

Does anyone one know if they count AP scores in the gpa calculation for the prerequisites? Also, when calculating my prereq gpa will they use ALL the courses I’ve taken already (the must-have’s plus A&PII, comp II, developmental psych, etc) or just the basic minimal ones needed for admission?

thanks!

Hello. I'm not sure about the GPA for AP classes. The GPA is calculated 5x your overall GPA plus 5x prerequisites (all of them, not jist the required before admission ones) GPA. Add that score to your TEAS score and 2 points for each degree (AA, BA, MA, etc). Best of luck!! Here's hoping for round 2!!

Thank you! Also do you know how they calculate gpa? Do they use plus or minus? And how do they treat any repeat courses?

Sorry, I don't know any of that information. You can email the nursing department. They've been good about answering my questions.

How long do they normally take to process your transcripts and add the courses to passport? Also, any tips for preparing for the TEAS?

Sorry I have a million questions because It’s my first time applying to nursing school and I REALLLYYYY don’t want to have to reapply and wait another semester before I can start.

Transcripts from other schools?? I did mine electronically and they were uploaded in a few days. If you see them on Passport the nursing department has them as well. Make sure your TEAS test score shows there as well. You don't want anything missing when you apply.

I wouldn't know what to say about preparing for the TEAS. I took it 3 times. My score went up every time overall, but not in all subjects. My 2nd TEAS my English was an 80, my 3rd it went down to a 60... after studying the books for 2 weeks straight. That hurt!!

I recommend the 2 practice tests from ATI and also the Mometrix ATI Teas Secrets book. There are also a couple of apps you can use, like TEAS Mastery. That’s what I used and was able to score an 82.7 on my first try. Good luck!

Hello everyone my name is Tarshonda, and I'm just trying to get a little head start because I'm not planning to apply until Fall 2020. I have saw some of the previous post and know that some of you did not get in last term. I pray you ALL get in. Reading y'alls posts make me so nervous because when I started in 2007 I did not take school serious and my GPA paid for it. I still have to take A&P 1&2 and Micro. Any advice on professors? Have any of you applied to South Florida in Avon Park they have the same requirements. That's my plan to apply to both.Good luck.
