Hey everyone, I'm starting this thread for Polk State College Spring 2020 hopefuls. Right now, my total score is 111.15. I'm retaking my TEAS Wednesday (right now my TEAS score is 76) and I'm retaking Algebra summer II for a higher grade. We shall see how it goes...

I am turning my paperwork in sometime this week and I started the castlebranch this weekend. At least we have until November to get it all done. Any suggestions on where to get the bls certification for the best price?
I am excited to meet everyone! I was looking at past threads and it looks like they start a Facebook page for us? I think they inform us of that during the orientation
Hey there,
I officially decided to go with Polk state. We would finish a semester later meaning we would finish December 2021 vs August 2021 at Seminole but it's only a couple months later. Seminoles program is five semesters vs the four semesters at Polk but it's continuous which I liked at first but financially Polk is the better option since I will be working during the program. I like that we get Summers off and Polk actually offered me a better financial aid award package then Seminoles. And driving, although I live in Orlando, it was the same distance because of traffic in Orlando to Altamonte. I know we won't find out if we got into the prgoram for Seminole until mid October and I just didn't want to risk the opportunity just in case I didn't get into Seminole bc it would only give me two weeks to get everything done for the Polk program which would be too late. I thought long and hard and ultimately chose Polk state which I think is the best choice for me. They have a really good program. I was so stubborn before about the program I chose having to be in Orlando and only wanting the Seminole program, but things happen for a reason. ?
Also I'm doing my bls certification through Red Cross this upcoming Friday. It was $75. Polk state is like ten dollars cheaper with the class and getting the book but their times didn't work with my schedule. I'm doing mines closer to home in Orlando. The price varied on the which specific date you wanted. It is the BLS for healthcare providers btw

You would sign the first one if you are sure you have not done any of the things listed and the second one if you believe you have done any of the things listed..
@knightmurse I am in the same dilemma about Seminole! I decided that I’m going to get all my shots and everything, because I’d need them for SSC anyway and just wait on getting the background check until I hear back from SSC. I’d be a fool not to accept Polk for right now haha but yea I’m dreading that drive all the way to Polk, so if I do end up sticking with Polk I’d probably just move out there.

I understand what you are going through. It is so hard to decide but I thought long and weighed out the pros and cons about both programs. I really like Seminole's program but I just didn't want to risk it and financially it would be better for me to do Polk State's program since I can work during the summer breaks. With Seminole it is a straight run with no breaks and financially it would put me in more debt if I chose that route. I feel your pain on the drive. I live by Idrive right by the 528 so I'm like 5 mins from I4 going in both directions. but when I dropped my application off at Seminole, it took a little over an hour drive due to all the traffic. With Polk, it was about a 40 min drive so it wasn't that bad. I am going to stay in Orlando because of my job and commute. I just like being surrounded by things to do and places to study here. Polk reminded me of Tennessee and why I moved to Orlando many years ago. Just be very careful and really think it through. I know Seminole's program probably won't send emails until Oct 11th. When I last applied for the fall 2019 program, it took exactly six weeks to get my email about admittance in the program. Yes work on those immunizations and such but be prepared because you will have only three weeks to turn all your stuff in for Polk if you decided not to do Seminole's. I uploaded stuff on my Castlebranch last week and they still are reviewing some of my submitted paperwork. Between setting up appointments to see my Primary physician and doing lab work for titers and getting immunizations, and having them process the lab work, it takes time and honestly will be a three week process if the paperwork through castlebranch goes through. Just get those immunizations done and get your BLS certification. I'm trying to get everything done by the first week of october for Polk. Who knows? I could possible switch last minute to seminole's program, but then again I already paid the fees for the package fees. Sorry for the long reply.
@knightmurse no I appreciate the long post and yea you are right! Where in Orlando do you live? It would take me over an hour to get there from where I stay.

I dropped off my letter of intent last week, and Denise said to wear something comfortable to orientation and that it gets cold so bring a jacket.
I also started my castle branch too.. I’m doing my fingerprinting later today and made an appointment for my physical and blood titers. I also bought my shoes, still need to get my uniforms ?
