Polk State Spring 2020

Published

Hey everyone, I'm starting this thread for Polk State College Spring 2020 hopefuls. Right now, my total score is 111.15. I'm retaking my TEAS Wednesday (right now my TEAS score is 76) and I'm retaking Algebra summer II for a higher grade. We shall see how it goes...

@Mooky33870 I’m just now seeing this but I got Monday and I am desperately trying to get Saturday due to work constraints and trying to keep my current job part time. Do you know if they would let us trade???

also I had issues getting my scrubs in time for the orientation Friday and I am in another state currently. Can someone send me the style numbers we are allowed to have? I may have to come Friday without the Polk state seal on mine ?

Could you add me as well?

I added you on facebook, so then I can send you an invite to the group!! ? Austyn Kyser

Does anyone know what shoes we are supposed to wear tomorrow? Do we need our clinical shoes, or are tennis shoes okay?

Embrace YJ, did you find someone to switch?? I know another girl wanting to get rid of a Sat clinical!!

Hey everyone.

Since some of you are in the program, I have a few questions if you don't mind:

- I will have a newborn in September. First child. Obviously, I realize it is not going to be easy, but I need to know what my schedule is going to be like. Therefore, I was wondering if someone could explain what a typical week is like, such as class hours, class days, clinical hours and days, locations, etc... Of course the FAQs give some insight, but I figured I could create a username and ask the people who are actually in it.

Edit: I forgot to state my intentions: I plan on applying for Fall 2020.

Is anyone working part time and doing this? If so, how many hours a week are you working?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi mike!

so it all really depends on when you have clinical. Class will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8a-4p. I personally have clinical on Wednesdays but everyone has a different clinical day. Most clinical are going to be in the winter haven, Lakeland, or Tampa areas. On top of class and clinical you have lab hours that you have to complete on your own. I personally work a part time 7a-7p two days a week at the hospital and so far it’s very doable. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your reply. That doesn't sound too bad. Luckily, my manager is very flexible so my hours can be too. Also, I can work every weekend if need be. I live in plant city, so I guess the winter haven sites would be the longest commute, but I cannot complain. Are the clinical days randomly assigned to each student?

I hope the semester is going well. I also hope to join you soon! I just took my TEAS test this morning and did well. I will have approximately 130 points, so i am hoping that will be enough to get in first try.

Mike, that’s a very good score I have no doubts you wouldn’t get in with that score.

Clinical days are ranked from 1-3 and they try to give everyone there first day, but if not you’ll get your second choice, so in a way you get to pick them..

I am also working two 12hr shifts a week on Friday's and Sunday’s and so far it’s been fairly easy and not to bad. The semester is now starting to pick up a little so we shall see if my statement still stands.

I wish you the best of luck! Hopefully I’ll be in N2 next semester lmao

ps, you can add me on Facebook, I believe I posted my name earlier on..
