Polk State Spring 2020

Published

Hey everyone, I'm starting this thread for Polk State College Spring 2020 hopefuls. Right now, my total score is 111.15. I'm retaking my TEAS Wednesday (right now my TEAS score is 76) and I'm retaking Algebra summer II for a higher grade. We shall see how it goes...

My sister has nothing but problems with financial aid every semester. This last term, after calling financial aid many times, she had to email the head of the college and copy several people in the email before they finally processed her loans. Last August, she called 30 times before she emailed the same people because they were so late processing her loans. The only issue me or either of my sisters have ever had with PSC is their financial aid office!! Thank God I am paying myself because I cannot deal with them!!

I drove to the Winter Haven Campus the other day. It was a 3 minute conversation. They said they do not financial aid until the beginning of December for everyone and that's why I don't have any awards available yet. I asked if it would be done in time before the payment deadline of December 6th and she said yes. I find it odd that they wait last minute to do it because what if they're issues with someones financial aid. But even the people on the phone didn't know why they haven't processed my financial aid since I had my fafsa sent in months ago. I'm prepared to pay for the tuition though just in case they don't process it in time and get reimbursed when it finally does process. I just don't get why they wait last minute so close to the deadline. They said everything was good on my end but the other schools i've attended always had it done way in advance to show what you will be getting for next semester.

They're a mess.... every year (fall semester) they end up giving extensions because they don't have things processed in time. Last semester, my sister's loan showed on her loan page (whoever funded it), but it still hadn't hit in her PS account. Ridiculous.

Either today or tomorrow the nursing class is having a test. I know there were several students that had to make a specific number on the test to even be considered "passing" to take the final next week. I believe the final is on Wednesday.

Hopefully they process mines before the deadline. I went and got my scrubs today. We can wear any color scrubs to class I'm assuming as long as it is solid colors right?

You can wear any scrubs to class, even prints. Clinicals are the red tops (with logo) and black bottoms.

My sister said she knows at least 6 didn't pass due to not scoring high enough on the final (test grades have to average 79 no matter what your other grades are). They have 48 hours to submit Ms. Jones a letter of intent to retake in January. I would assume that means by Monday they'll know how many more slots are available for alternates.

They said they wanted us to all do the LRH orientation because we would all have clinical there at some point right? Everyone won’t necessarily be at LRH the first semester? I was late doing my orientation too.

Yes, I believed they asked that everyone to do the LRH orientation. I completed mine.

Hey everyone,

Looking through our completion checklist and it says we have to complte the LASSI and Time Management Homework by January 2? Where do I find this assignment?

Also, where do we upload our certifications for the PS 102: From Error to Harm course. I don't see any links on Canvas!

I believe that you can access that when they give you access to the courses in Canvas. I may be misspeaking though.

Hey everyone.

For all my alternates, I emailed Denise and she said they should know if they’re moving down the list by the end of today. And will be putting out phone calls as they go. Good luck.
