You should pose your question to the BVNPT and the BRN while you are at it. Only they can give their reasoning here. Meanwhile, you need to relax and congratulate yourself for having taken the test. You know there are some people who get so worked up and terrified that they can't bring themselves to take the test. Remember that about 80% pass the first time. Assume you are part of that 80% until you get your results!

I am from California and I took the NCLEX on 12/23/09. I had the same kind of questions you had
- around 6-8 Pharm
- 2 Maternity
- 6-8 SATA
-2-3 Psych
- the rest were priortization, fundamentals, and peds
My test shut off @ 85 questions.
I was nauseous after the exam and felt like throwing up.
I called the BVNPT everyday like I was calling a radio station trying to be the 100th caller.
I didn't get my results until 01/13/10. Exactly 20 days later.
I agree that California should have "quick results" SERIOUSLY! If Governor Schwarzenegger wants to make money for the state. He should start by allowing NCLEX testers the ability to get quick results.
BTW, if you haven't already done so, try the Pearsonvue Trick. There's a thread on the NCLEX Discussion Forum which gives the detailed directions on how to do it.
Hang in there! I'm sure you did well! =)

That is an excellent question. I agree with you. However, since you stopped at 85 (which means that you got the 5 extra questions that don't count and the NCLEX people are trying them out)....you either passed or did so poor that they decided to not have you take more questions. I have yet to take the RN NCLEX but since I had gone to RN school and challenged the LVN test, I took it so I could work. I whizzed through the LVN NCLEX and bingo the thing cut off. I then got scared. I was worried that I did not take the test that seriously and may have failed. Worried till I got the letter that I passed. I have the feeling that you passed...Best to you

Quick results are not needed, all the states that participate just want your money..... you can go to the California BRN website 48 hours after sitting the NCLEX and your name will appear under license verification as a RN if you passed. So really in a sense CA does have quicktest results but its FREE!!!

For CA it can take 3 or more days to get results, very rarely have I seen anyone from CA report that they received their results in 48 hours. Also if you haven 't got a SSN or there is a problem with your file ie your school hasn't sent transcripts then the BRN will not post a license.
There are a few states that do not participate in quick results and all states will have online verification which is free and some will show results in 24 hours and others can take a week.

I am afraid your post is inaccurate. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and took my test 8 days ago. I still have no response on the CA.BRN License verification website. It does not work similarly to the "Quick Results" programs I understand other states offer. As I understand It can take anywhere from 3 days - eternity! JK @OP Im going to give it another week then try my hand at calling the BRN to verified that all my paperwork has been properly managed. Best of luck, and remember patience builds character Be Cool

man i just took my nclex yesterday for cali and ive been on their webpage ever since lol.. plus it takes like an additional week or something before their mail gets to the philppines so this wait is killing me.....
The length of time it takes to get results depends on how many applicant documents they process (some time of year there is a larger amount of applicants than other times) AND how many staff members are available to do the work. Here in Calif, the governor has cut staffing to all departments. To make matters worse, some offices are closed one day a week or the staff hours have been cut. This makes a slow process even slower.
It takes even longer to get the names up on the database. You may get your documents before your name is posted.
Either way, you can't hurry along the process. Just take a deep breath and relax.

This is not true all the time. I had a friend take hers the 2/25 and she didn't get results of passing until 3/5. So its not the same as quick results. And yes you can do the pvt, but some people still have to wait for a few days before their names show up. Thats why CA should start doing quick results.

Kiwi, that advice is inaccurate. Additionally, the OP is an LVN, you have to wait via mail for your LVN letter to inform you whether or not you passed. I remember mine took over a month....it was frustrating.
When I took my RN, I was lucky, it took 4 days to post.
