Please pray for a friends granddaughter!

I want to ask all of you out there to please pray for my friends 4 year old granddughter. She was involved in a serios car crash yesterday and is in very critical condition. She has a broken femur, her back was broken in two places, and her skull and spinal cord were separated (internal decapitation). She has been given about a 1 % chance of survival. She had a shunt placed and a halo placed to try to prevent further damage, and if by God's grace shesurvives she will be a quadraplegic with severe brain damage for life. Her mother was transferred from neuro ICU today to a regular room, but is still heavily sedated and not fully aware of her baby's grim condition. Her identical twin sister only suffered some minor cuts and bruises. Details are still sketchy, but we know they were not buckled up and the mother was possibly under the influence. It is such a tragic situation, and i dont know what more to do than to pray and ask others to do so as well.

Newest update...they have not yet removed life support. The mother requested a second MRI, and she has some pupillary reaction in both eyes. It is said today that she had opened her eyes and followed her moms body, but i am not sure about how truethat is. The attending neuro physician called the family in for conference today, and i am not sure what was talked about there. I am assuming it was to let them know of the status, as well as discuss options and possibly further testing to make a better determination. I talked to the grandmother today, and they were told that if she were to live, she would remain paralyzed from the neck down, remain in a halo and body brace and remain permanently trached and vented for life. She will have little to no brain function, and never function in any meaningful way again. I cant help but think that maybe her death is for the best for her little body. I cannot imagine making that decision for my children, but at the same time, i cannot imagine sentencing them to a life like that either. It would be a hard call to make, but some part of me also says that the mother doesnt want to remove support, because then she will die, and in addition to the charges she faces now, she will be facing murder charges then (kids not buckled, driving while intoxicated, etc). Does that sound like a selfish thought?? am in agony now over what i think is right, and what i would do in the situation, versus what this family is going through, something i hope to never face myself. I will keep u all updated as i learn anything new.

Oh merciful God...please help them...I am just sick over this story....You are such a good friend to be reaching out to this family....I am sure that what has transpired over the last few days is not going to help the mother's substance abuse problem....Maybe some of her relatives can step up to the plate and help with the children...Hang in there and please know that there are lots of prayers being said as we speak:saint:

I just wanted to update. The chlid passed away at 638 pm tonight. The family had the halo removed so theat they could get closer to her and spend more time with her with as few attachments as possible. They withdrew support and she passed away shortly thereafter. Something positive--a child that was loosing her battle as well, received baby Ravens kidneys so that she could live. When God shuts a window he opens a door, and i hope they are looking for that door as they go through the next few weeks, months, and years to come.

It's not very often that you are happy a child dies but I was in this situation. That was no life for her. Now she's at peace and in heaven like the little angel she is. God bless her.

Such a sad and tragic story. I'd take the other babies in a heartbeat if the mother would turn them over to me. I fear for their lives as well. I hope the grandma gets some help so she can step in here. What a shame if they end up in the system. I'd happily raise them.

We will bury her on Monday. This will be the hardest thing i have ever endured.

Her twin sister fell asleep almost at the same moment of her death. She slept long and hard, and woke up and told us of a dream she had. She said "Jesus came with his friends, and Raven went with him. There were buttlerflies and rainbows, and mommy..Raven said it isnt dark anymore" The family has never been very religious, and as far as they know, they do not remember ever discussing Jesus with the children. This was monumental to them. Then and there, many lives were changed, and many lost souls found Christ. This baby touched many lives in her death. Organs were donated. Her heart and kidneys were donated to children at the same hospital dying anddesperately in need. Her liver went for research purpses, and her pancreas was donated. Those were the only salvageable organs. The mother will turn herself in after the funeral. She is being charged with vehicular homicide, DUI and child neglect, stemming from the fact that she was an opiate addict going through the methadone clinic for treatment, and had dosed earlier in the day. She was legally high. The other children have been temporarily placed with family, and we dont yet know what will happen with them. Please keep us all in your prayers as we face these next few days.
