I know everyone says you should do 3000 or so questions before the NCLEX. I took the hurst review a couple of weeks ago and felt really good. I have been studying that material and answering some questions. I have only done about 800 questions so far (test is Sept 15th). The problem is that I do horrible on the questions and it is really discouraging me. I am averaging around 60-65% and it is killing my self confidence. My school did NCLEX style questions on exams and I did good but when it comes to Saunders I am doing really bad.

I probably shouldn't have posted this thread because sometimes this board just causes me more anxiety.

Sorry :o . It was only with a good intention. Good luck.

One other thing I liked about Hurst is they have a DVD specifically for management and delegation. They provide losts of questions on ER triage and prioritizing patients.

I have tried to do the questions that they gave on prioritizing pts (not sure if they're the same as what you have) and I thought they were very difficult. She didn't get a DVD. Anyways, NCLEX 3000 is what my friend used too. She said she would average 65-80%, so you're doing very well! It seems that when people pass, they recommend what they used to study, and if they didn't, they say whatever they used didn't work. It's hard not to try and get opinions from others who have taken the NCLEX when you haven't, but I agree, sometimes it does add to the anxiety. I am debating whether or not to reschedule my test, but I doubt I'll ever feel ready! Doing all these questions is really driving me crazy, but I know I have to keep at it!

NurseDaisy...you will do just fine next week!

I have never heard of the Hurst Review or the Saunders. Sounds like a ploy to take your money if you ask me!

My suggestion is to try and relax and take a deep breath before you start exam. If you find you are getting anxious while taking the exam, stop-close your eyes and take a couple deep breaths again.

Whatever you do, do not reschedule your NCLEX. I have found that the new nurses on my floor who have failed their boards, rescheduled their NCLEX several times.

I graduated nursing school 5 years ago, choose not to study with books and DID NOT take any prep classes. I passed taking only the minimum 75 questions. I was only a B/C student.

Good luck..hope this helped!

Generally, the sooner after graduation you take the exam, the better you do.
