Does nursing school go by quickly? Seems like it'll be forever before I'm a nurse.
Nursing school goes by so fast. I started in January 04 and graduated August 05. I just took my boards, passed and am now working. I still have to pinch myself sometimes to make sure I am not dreaming. It really does go by fast. Amy

Papaw John, you are great! I hope my preceptor has the ability to explain things like you do. I always love reading your responses because I learn something I didn't know. Amy

NCLEX results are in...............
I took my test here in Alabama. The only people that can access the online verification here are employers. There is a phone number you can call but I received my results in the mail before the information on the phone was updated.

New Graduates salary in Alabama
i can give you some information on birmingham area hospitals. i just graduated last month and start my new job on monday. i interviewed at several places before making my decision so this info. is current. uab new grads starting pay is 18.60 and you have to pay for parking (45.00/month) st vincents is 18.10 with free employee parking baptist health systems is 18.25 during orientation and then 18.50, i believe they have free parking (not sure) childrens hospital is 18.10 and parking is 35.00/month i chose brookwood hospital. pay is 18.10 (they have just signed a pay increase but i am not sure what it is) and they have free parking. one of the things i liked about brookwood is that they will pay back student loans up to 12,000 dollars. i had less than that so withing two years my student loans will be paid. hope this helps.

Venting about NCLEX results
Thanks Suzanne but my state (Alabama) does not even put info. on their website. It's only for employers that have a pin number. They told me I just have to wait for the results to come in the mail.

Just finished NCLEX
Does anyone know what type teaching questions are? I had lots of priority and discharge teaching questions. I know that priority are higher level but what about discharge teaching. Computer shut off at 155. Hope I passed.

Question about triage
Here are the notes that I have on the subject If you are in a triage situation where there are limited resources and staff think about salvaging more patients. This means if you have 1 patiet who has just stopped breathing, 1 with an open fx, 1 with difficulty breathing and 1 pt with a minor laceration you would not see the pt who is not breathing first. You would prioritize the other patients who are still alive and see the not breathing patient last. However, if you have plenty of staff and resources then you would see the pt who has just stopped breathing first. Hopefully that makes sense.

Question about triage
I found the answer thanks.

Question about triage
I am a little confused about different things I have read so if someone could clear it up I would really appreciate it. In triage with LIMITED staff and resources you follow order of Red, Yellow, Green and Black but in an ER where there is plenty of staff and resources do you see Black first, then red, yellow and green?
