  1. I have tried to do the questions that they gave on prioritizing pts (not sure if they're the same as what you have) and I thought they were very difficult. She didn't get a DVD. Anyways, NCLEX 3000 is what my friend used too. She said she would average 65-80%, so you're doing very well! It seems that when people pass, they recommend what they used to study, and if they didn't, they say whatever they used didn't work. It's hard not to try and get opinions from others who have taken the NCLEX when you haven't, but I agree, sometimes it does add to the anxiety. I am debating whether or not to reschedule my test, but I doubt I'll ever feel ready! Doing all these questions is really driving me crazy, but I know I have to keep at it!
  2. What is your opinion on the Hurst Review? I have a friend who did it and passed. She didn't use Saunders. I wanted to take it, but it isn't offered in my area or surrounding cities for a few months. I have been looking over some of the notes they gave her and if it's still the same, did you think the resp, neuro, and pedi notes were not much and seemed to be missing major disorders? They say that if you know all of the notes that you should pass. What did you think about it?
  3. Thanks for your advice. Believe me, I'm planning to rely heavily on prayers!!! If you don't mind me asking, how did you prepare for the NCLEX the 1st time vs the 2nd time? Also, do you know if there is a good book that has several prioritizing practice questions? I am using the Saunders CD, but haven't come across any of those, at least not yet. Thanks!
  4. Hi! I am taking the NCLEX-RN very soon, and was wondering if anyone who has taken it recently could help me... Did the NCLEX cover the basics as far as with disorders, or did they ask some out there questions that you really have to just narrow it down and take a educated guess at? I have been doing questions from various CDs and it seems that if you know the main things about a certain topic, that you can pretty much figure out the right answer (for the most part). For ex, if the question is pertaining to Cushing's Syndrome, could they just want to know the s/s or the diet for the pt? Would that kind of question be considered a lower level question? Are the priority questions only what's considered higher level? I've been reading so many negative experiences with the NCLEX that I'm really scared!!! Any insight would be awesome and much appreciated! Thanks!
  5. I know I've previously asked for some advice on preparing for the NCLEX-RN, but I am really going back and forth with the decision on whether to purchase the Kaplan online review. I have a Kaplan book that offers strategies and I've read a few chapters and then when I try to answer the question they give you to practice a particular strategy on, I just don't seem to get it. I'm not quite sure what the problem is. The price of the Kaplan review isn't necessarily the issue for me, because as far as I'm concerned anything that will help better my odds of passing the first time is well worth it to me! I'm currently doing Saunder's questions, and I'm worried that if I go ahead and get the Kaplan online review I'll only focus on that, since I only have 3 weeks, and I'd really like to spend the limited time I have on what is most likely to benefit me. I know that everyone has different opinions when it comes to studying for the NCLEX and that different things work for different people, but if possible I'd like to be practicing questions that are most similar to how the questions will appear on the NCLEX, if they even exist! I am also considering purchasing just the Kaplan question bank of 1000 questions. For anyone who used Kaplan, would you recommend it? Did it really help you when you took the NCLEX? I'm starting to freak out about this, so any thoughts on this that will help me make up my mind so I can stop dwelling on it would be great. Also, I've heard that prioritizing patients (which pt do you see first?) is very popular on the NCLEX. I need serious help with that. Any tips? Thanks so much!
  6. I'll take your advice. Thanks!
  7. Thanks so much for your advice!
  8. Thanks so much for replying! I will stick to Saunders! Any advice on what order to do the questions on the CD? Should I do a particular category each day or do a mixture each day? Also, do you believe that doing just the questions and reading and understanding the rationale is sufficient enough to prepare, or do I need to spend time flipping through the actual book? Thanks!
  9. I am scheduled to take the NCLEX-RN about 3 weeks from now. I have several review books with questions and I also have Saunder's, which seems to be highly recommended. As of right now, I do not feel prepared at all! I am debating on whether or not to purchase the Kaplan online package. I'm worried that 3 weeks may not be enough time to get my monies worth out of it, considering it is $418. I have the NCLEX Review 3000, along with many other CD-ROMS with several questions, so I am just wondering if using all of the material I currently have will be sufficient enough. I just don't want to have any regrets. I was told that the NCLEX isn't all knowledge-based, and that taking the Kaplan will help you learn how to answer the questions without necessarily knowing the correct answer. Is that true? Also, is 3 weeks a sufficient amount of time to prepare for this exam? I am not working right now, so I do have all day and night to study, but I'm not sure what the average amount of time people take to prepare for this is. Any advice that will help me would be greaty appreciated! Thanks!
