I am currently a senior in high school who is in the process of applying to colleges and their nursing programs. I have never been a terrible student but I'm also very average. My GPA is a 3.68 which isn't terrible but my sat scores are horrendous. I regret not taking school more seriously over the years and not realizing the importance of the Sats.
Math has always been a weak subject for me. Before the new Sats I took the test once and only scored a 1550 with the math section being my worst score. The second time I took the test (new sat) I again only manage to score in the 400 points range for math and my 3rd time taking the Sats were in October but I doubt I improved on my math section
I'm extremely guilty for wasting my parents time and money on Sat prep but still not grasping mathematical concepts. The dilemma right now is that the schools I'm looking at are schools I could PROBABLY get but getting into their nursing school Is another question.
To give you an idea of the problem I'm facing I'll list some schools I'm looking at
The college of new Jersey (completely a reach ik)
Stockton University (requires at least a 500 on math)
Bloomsburg University
University of Arizona
Georgia Southern University
Salisbury University
Rutgers Brunswick/Camden (reach as well)
Texas state university
Temple university (very very competitive)
I forgot to mention that Im currently schooling in the state of New Jersey but will be looking at schools out of state due to the intense competition.
At this point I am feeling extremely helpless and depressed for many reasons. I have always wanted to enter into a 4 year Bsn program but will probably only have a chance with 2 year programs. The issue with this is that many hospitals really only take nurses with a bachelor's (so I've heard) and I feel as though Ive ruined my chances for good.
I really want to thank you guys for reading this terribly long sob story but I'd also appreciate it if you guys could give me some advice or name some schools that focus less on high school grades/scores and more on college performance. Thank you
