PHSC 2015 Nursing Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone!

I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?

Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!

Thanks!

Hang in there everyone! The wait will seem like FOREVER!!!! Breathe and enjoy your free time now. Oh, and as for the campus selection, yeah you really get no say. Though they try to put you closest to your home address, honestly they can put you where they want to and you follow along at their command. A few switched at orientation, but some were just stuck driving. Best to all!!

Hey MamaBerry , you come back just to encourage us :D feel loved. I would have a 40 minute drive to Porter campus sooo.... I really wouldn't want to drive that far :banghead: compared to the 20 minutes to West campus. I would drive it if I had to though (Truck sucks a lot of gas).

Ya i pray i dont get stuck at Porter my son attends west campus childcare and i dont want to be far from him since he will have to go full time although i would be thankful to just get in!

Thanks for coming on here MamaBerry! Hope your first semester is going well! I can't wait to find out if i'm in or not! Dai I definitely think you got in!

Hi Risky, have you checked out the other nursing schools around Tampa as well? Before I moved up to Hernando, I was looking at a ton of them. They all seem to run about the same down there. HCC was my other choice. I heard they did not have a wait list but each term they would fill up a little more.

I applied at West for LPN only. I am a Hernando county resident and my composite is 74.6 :/ nervous...

Specializes in LPN.

HCC is too competitive. My GPA hurts me because my A&P and Lab were taken years before I went to LPN school so I didn't know those two C's would hurt me in the future.

@Mikes' goals- You are correct...I did round up on my GPA. I did not round up on my TEAS though. Thanks for adjusting. :)

Risky, I was checking into HCC for the fall 2013 program and one of the counselors told me it was a no waiting as long as I had the prereqs. Sounds like I may have received bad info though.

I received bad info from my counselor at PHSC too. I ended up taking 18 credit hours over the summer to get my prereqs and some others that I wanted to knock out. I will NEVER do 18 hours in the summer again though!

For everyone already creating a back-up plan: First of all stop stressing before you even hear!! ;-) in all honesty though, just make sure where ever you go is accredited. Otherwise no sitting for boards, and no license! Yikes!! You all are fine... Your scores are competiive. You got this!!

Dai I got my letter that my papers were received. Did you?

jemcvay, how long did it take for you to receive your letter and which campus did you drop you application off with?

I submitted mine on the 11th at Spring Hill, right after I finished with the TEAS and I haven't received one yet.
