Phoenix With Ogp

Published

are there any nurses working or about to move to phoenix with ogrady peyton and if so are there jobs where you work because we really want to move there but ogp say theres not a demand.i am moving with my husband and 2 kids and we feel phoenix is the place for us,but ogp seem to have other ideas

yes,the best thing about ogp is they do all the paperwork for you i wouldnt have the timme to do it myself

There is not all that much paperwork to be done. A good attorney does most of it for you. But you have given away at least $5 per hour of your salary for them to do your paperwork. :crying2:

And they have been know to change assignment locations at the last minute.

You are going to the US on a green card, which gives you all rights that an American RN has in working in the US. Do not sell yourself short. You should be in control of where you will be working, not them teling you where you will be going and the type of facility at the last minute.

Specializes in renal,peritoneal dialysis, medicine.

well im not prepared to put my family in an area which is unsuitable or dangerous for anyone. i know where i want to go and will hold out for as long as i can to get there, after all ive waited this long, whats a few more months in the scheme of things?

having said that the waiting is very trying on your nerves, its all we flaming think about!!!

I wholeheartedly agree with that, and you should not have to go thru this. I hope others will read this and learn from it.

i think the waiting is the hardest you get so uptight about it you could rush into something you might live to regret

Hi Everyone,

I have to say you will probably get what you want if you hold for it. I know there will be lots of jobs at St Jo's after June because they are opening a new wing and they do not have the staff for it.

Last night I was one of three new travellers working on my ward and only 1 perm staff member. They cannot recruit enough nurses, and they will have to use agencies.

OGP nurses are called Travel nurses we are called long term travel nurses, and the ones who do 13 week assignments are called short term travellers. Now what happens is at my hospital the short term travel nurses can only do two assignments a year then they have to wait until the next year to get assigned back at St Joseph's. So the well can and will run dry. My ward is increasing it's beds to 48 from 23 and we cant staff it now so I will leave it to your imagination of where these nurses will come from. It is mainly foregn nurses who staff the ward anyway-there are 4 supervisors and 2 are from UK. The other night there wasnt any US nurses on nights on the ward.

thats good to hear because me and my family really want phoenix especially after seeing your photos

Joined OGP July 2004 also wanted to go to Florida but we went to a presentation by OGP and it was mentioned Florida for an initial contract is almost impossible. DD and DH were interested in Arizona especially Phoenix, OGP arranged an interview in August 2004 with St Joe's and I gained a position there. Since then have sat and passed NCLEX March 2005, applied for I-140 May 2005 (still waiting) received another updated job contract for St Joe's in January 2006. Like you have researched Phoenix and surrounding area and its were we want to go, although the travel dates have been put back several times, I am still determined to get to Phoenix Arizona.

Just a note for any of you that are just starting the process, it is always, always, much better to have the NCLEX exam done before you even interview. It puts you in a much better position, and things can progress much faster for you.

Most facilities will not even interview you until you have a passing result on either CGFNS or the NCLEX exam, as nothing can be processed at all until then. It doesn't matter what the agency tells you, immigration requires a passing score before one thing can be files.

all we have been offered since passing the nclex is an interview at oakland which we did not fancy,we are hoping to get more interviews when i140 eventually comes through

I did not want to interview for jobs etc until I had passed NCLEX, extra pressure etc, but for some strange reason OGP pushed for an interview with St Joe's almost immediately I signed with them. Through out I have been told that normally OGP don't place until you have received your I-140 at least. As to why my case was different I have no answers.
