PHCC Spring 2014 hopefuls

Published

Hey guys just wondering who is applying for January. Deadlines are in a few weeks and no one had started a thread yet. I am applying for RN and LPN hoping to get in this time around.

I spoke to the nursing admissions lady today, and she said she is still going through applications. She told me to expect a confirmation letter within the next 3-5 business days. Also, in case anyone was wondering - Porter campus will be open this spring so there are additional seats. The selection committee determines which campus those who are selected will go to.

Does anyone know how the GPA is calculated? Is it just the pre-req classes? I applied too with a Teas of 77% but not sure of the GPA.

GPA is calculated based on your grades in Anat 1 & lab, psychology, science of human nutrition, and micro comp apps.

Hi..I changed my username to healthsciencefile...trying to consolidate nursing related stuff into one account. To answer your question, I fell asleep on the TEAS math section and ended up with 71% composite/overall score (furious about it!) and my GPA is 3.5. (already have a BS degree) and PHCC took all my courses for transfer so I only need to take the nursing courses

Hi everyone,

I too applied for RN, January 2014. This is my first time, I decided to study RN just a few months ago and rushed to get all my pre-reqs during the summer, passed all 5 classes with gpa of 4.0. Then took my first and only time TEAS, scored 76% and I am a resident of Hernando too.

I tried to find out how many application were submitted for January but they do not give you this info. But I talked to an advisor before dropping my application and she pulled up the record in her computer, there were 234 application for Aug. 2013 and the ones who got accepted in RN had gpa range of 3.6 to 4.0 and TEAS score of 72 to 94.

But she also mentioned that usually they do not get that many application for Spring, for example they had only about 95 application for Spring 2013!! and 48 seats, so half of them got accepted even with TEAS scores of around 60%. Hope it is the same for this Spring too.

I called the Spring Hill campus today and they informed that the letters will be mailed as of Oct. 15th!

Good luck everyone!!

Is the 48 seats RN only or does that also include the lpn?

Only for RN. In total there are over 60 seats, 48 RN and the rest for LPNs and Paramedics.

Omg those stats freaked me out lol! I really hope they did not have over 200 applicants this time around. What if the remaining 158+ applicants from last semester apply for Spring 2014. I received my confirmation letter yesterday, cannot believe if this is true that we will know our fate in only 2 weeks!!!

This is true, I saw it on the advisor's computer when she pulled the info for me...But she also said, due to unknown reasons, usually they do not receive that many applications for Springs, at least they didn't in the past couple of years, last spring only 90!!.Let's hope that's the case for this spring too! If you look at the previous comments, there is only a few of us in here, I'm optimistic most of you will get in, relax!

I have taken 6 classes for this Fall & that takes a lot of my time and keeps me busy, it makes this waiting time easier!

I have noticed the difference in the amount of people on here. I have also heard a lot of people say they are not applying for spring. I hope this is our chance!

Does anyone know what the schedules are like are like for both the LPN and RN program? Would be have class 5 days?

I would love to know schedule too, I have to plan for my kids and work since I will still have to work part-time. Anyone else working some while they go to school?
