  1. I applied in the fall of last year and they had over 200 applicants, in the spring they had about 100 and more seats (west and porter campus) I confirmed this after calling the nursing office. I understand this is usually the trend where fall has more.
  2. I know, so much in such a short time!
  3. I was freaking out today when I saw the calendar on canvas and it said class was tues, thur, and fri. I also called in a panic and they confirmed for wed, thur, and friday. See you all then! Did you all check-out all the things we need to do this semester?? WOW, we are going to be really busy!
  4. As far as uniforms go, I finally found pants that will work. I went to a local store (Scrubs N' Stuff) and purchased one that was very soft and not really see-thru (Koi was the brand). Also went on Amazon and my sister who is an RN made some recommendations on some uniforms and I purchase Wonder Wink pants. Both are same percentage of fabric and am equally pleased. I just went to PHCC bookstore and they told me the course manual (Nur 1021) is online and I went on Canvas and couldn't find anything. Anyone been told the same thing? Anyone find it?? Thanks!! See you guys soon!
  5. I got a steth online on Cyber Monday on Medisave.net. I go the Littmann Classic, it was discounted and got free shipping and engraving. They also have a good selection of colors. Heydanixo, the pants look like MC hammer pants. They are baggy and have a big elastic waistband that digs into your skin. My friend who is currently in her 2nd year at PHCC says she never brought and no one has ever said anything to her about it. I think I may do the same.
  6. Anyone purchased the uniform? I tried on pants and they are not only ugly but uncomfortable. You think it would be a big deal to get some other white pants that are more comfortable and less ugly??
  7. Eeeeek, so excited about tomorrow! Looking forward to meeting everyone in the morning...have a great night!
  8. I got some info on cna. I have a friend and she gave me some study materials. Apparently you can "challenge" the exam and just be prepared for the 2 parts. There is a written portion and a skills portion. Doesn't seem entirely crazy to do on your own. I have been watching some good utube videos and plan on just doing it. Cost is $93, but that price changes in January, $140ish. I can give you the links to utile if you're interested. I just got all my paperwork turned in today. I thought I had it done last week, but they then told me I needed some better "proof" of some of my shots. I am so relieved that is over and looking forward to meeting you all next week!
  9. I take my son to Kids R kids on Collier, my older daughter went there as well and they are very good with all ages if you are still looking. They are about the same price as Primrose and people there are very nice and really know each and every one of their kids. Just a recommendation if you want...thanks for the invite, I actually didn't notice it until today, I heard about visiting angels, they are hiring according to craigslist. I am looking into a few others as well, senior helpers and granny nannies but have to be a CNA for those I believe.
  10. Bummer, I am probably just going to leave my son where he is, he's 3 so not quite so young but I pay a lot for him to go there! On another note, is anyone going to work as a CNA before or during school? I am looking for jobs, there seem to be a ton of them, but you have to get certified, which I plan on doing...home health maybe sounds like a good option for people that are really busy and need flexibility.
  11. Fairy 007, did you ever find out about the daycare at Porter Campus?
  12. Hello, is that a separate session from the nov 22nd one? I was unaware of this other one, would you happen to know dates and time? I also live in LOL and looking for a preschool for my 3 year old. I don't think porter has a daycare and west campus has a wait list that you don't get notice until December!
  13. Did we have to get fingerprints done? I saw a spot or that on the physical form, but there were no additional directions in the packet of stuff we got.
  14. You can get your records at the health dept. I was able to locate mine there and they were kind enough to print me a copy to pickup. I am getting my physical/titers done tomorrow through my insurance but from what I understand I will have to wait to get results and then get vaccines if needed. I was feaking out about this too, but for different reasons.
  15. There was a page that showed the schedule and it says "Porter Campus" at the top. I also talked to Sharon the other day and she told me anyone who lives in Land O Lakes, Lutz, Wesley Chapel was assigned to that campus. Hope that helps :)
