PHCC Fall 2014 hopefuls!

Published

I want to meet some of you! I'm just getting ready to take my last 3 finals, have been studying for the TEAS for months now, and will be able to apply for next fall's nursing program (YAYAY!) I'd love to hear from some potential future classmates, how you are doing/ did with pre-reqs/ TEAS, and share the excitement upon acceptances!

Keep your hopes up everyone and watch this!

LOL I LOVE it!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing! :)

I actually went to a Galen open house a few weeks ago and at least for the transition, if you are done with all of your classes, Galen would only cost approx. 10,000. They accept 29 transfer credits. They have one more visit before they become NLN accredited so they are my back up plan.

Honestly, no matter what school you go to, a nurse is a nurse. I know good and bad nurses from all of the schools around here. It is up to us to utilize the education and excel. Stay positive everyone! :)

I still want to be a PHSC nurse though

My brother went to Galen because he's one of those people that are smart but lazy and his C average kept him from getting into a public school. He's one of the best oncology nurses at Florida Hospital fletcher and works PRN at Moffitt making 44 an hour as well. It doesn't matter where you go as long as you have your state license.

I'm praying I get in. I was stressing getting a loan for tuition because I only had $2000 saved but last month I won $5000 on a lottery ticket so I'm hoping that is God's way of blessing me with the money to finish up my RN so I can help help others. :(

I wasn't trying to ruffle feathers. I would like to have that potential to pursue education in a different state. That's why I am more concerned with accreditation. I know nurse in Galen and she is absolutely amazing!

We recently had a nurse that graduated from a local university, she was down talking to me about being an LPN and that only RN's and above should exist. She ended up causing so many med errors that it was unbelievable. So it's the person behind the license that makes the nurse.

It really upsets me when I hear people down talking LPNs. We work just as hard and in a hospital we do almost everything an RN does BUT we get paid LESS. LPN=Less Paid Nurse lol We all want to finish our RNs so we can get paid what we deserve!!!!

Thanks guys for the clarification. I'm glad I get to talk to you guys! Good group:) congrats again to all the people who got in!!!

That sounds like you have higher powers working in your favor!

Risky, I had something very similar happen. Where many people would see it as quite the opposite of a "blessing", my husband's 06 Impreza crapped out. He tried to rebuild the entire motor to find out that the car was in fact a flood salvage and corroded beyond all repair. We had essentially exhausted our savings trying to rebuild it and I was just so stressed about affording school--loans are not in my cards, I refuse! So I began working more hours and just trusting that things would work out fiscally if nursing was really for me. Strangely, people began buying parts from his car piece by piece...I've now got my tuition for the entire program saved up and by the time August rolls around, I'll have enough for books and fees as well! It would have been lovely for the car to run, but there was no way we would have gotten my tuition money saved back up in time so as to avoid a loan. Definitely sounds like SOMEBODY wants you to be a nurse, that's for sure :-)

Hi all,

I have been following these post to see what others status is with school as well. I applied to the fall 2014 RN program and received my letter on friday that I was chosen as an alternate! It's very upsetting as I still do not know what my fate is but all I can do is hope that someone decides to decline their seat. I am married and have a 16 month old son so this means the world to me and my future to get in. I try my best but it is very hard to get through college with a baby boy. Has anyone heard of people getting in as alternates and if anyone got accepted to RN but is not taking the seat please let me know!

Yes :) Life circumstances change, people move, get jobs elsewhere, unfortunate tragedy strikes... Hang in there! Deadline is the 10th for RSVP on the invitation letters so you will know very soon :)

I feel your pain. The Mrs. and I are trying to figure out how we're going to get through the next two years with a growing 3 year old and 7 month old. Just keep your head up!

Fellow Porter campus nursing students, I just found an article stating that our clinicals will be at Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel! Yay!! :D
