I want to meet some of you! I'm just getting ready to take my last 3 finals, have been studying for the TEAS for months now, and will be able to apply for next fall's nursing program (YAYAY!) I'd love to hear from some potential future classmates, how you are doing/ did with pre-reqs/ TEAS, and share the excitement upon acceptances!
I absolutely agree. I passed the NCLEX first try, 9 months after graduating but the TEAs makes me feel dumb.I haven't received a letter either. My teas was low so I feel like I will only get in if all the seats are available. If I don't get in then Idk if I should look into other schools or wait another year to apply, which would give me less of a chance next year considering 25 spots go to paramedics.
Let's pray we all get in
Im trying to avoid for profit schools. I don't want to pay 23k to go to Galen. Plus my boyfriend who works for a HCA hospital spoke to a nurse supervisor and said they look at university and community college graduates over the for profit schools. (Keiser, Galen, Rasmussen.) but could be just a disgruntled nurse because I've heard from other people from Galen have jobs at HCA. I would be more proud getting into PHSC rather than just buying into a for profit. Additionally I need it to be nationally accredited so I can move out of state.
Rasmussen screwed me over, with all the credited hours I cant use financial aid because they suck every hour from your financial aid.
Crossing my fingers, very disheartening if I got rejected again. Praying that they have enough seats for everyone. Because I feel like I'm at a standstill in life and it's very depressing.
But don't give up. In the end it will be worth it.
I actually went to a Galen open house a few weeks ago and at least for the transition, if you are done with all of your classes, Galen would only cost approx. 10,000. They accept 29 transfer credits. They have one more visit before they become NLN accredited so they are my back up plan.
Honestly, no matter what school you go to, a nurse is a nurse. I know good and bad nurses from all of the schools around here. It is up to us to utilize the education and excel. Stay positive everyone! :)
I still want to be a PHSC nurse though

Wow, I think we have the same exact feelings. I mentioned earlier in this thread how I felt stuck in life and I agree, it is very depressing. I truly wish I didn't take the LPN route but I just wanted to get started with my dream job. I can not afford to go back to a private school. I will most likely wait to apply again next year if I don't get in.
On a positive note, I don't think nurses who graduate from a profit school have to worry about getting hired. I worked for HCA for 4 years and MANY nurses were hired from all types of schools. My friend just graduated from Rasmussen and already scored a job in ICU. I also worked with another nurse who graduated from Galen and had no problem getting a job in a hospital out of state. BUT I definitely don't want to spend another 20,000 to finish school.
Either way, we will finish our RN. :) I will never give up on that.
I have a feeling you're in! :)

Yea, I am done with just about every class I need. I have Galen as a back up plan as well (If I don't wait to apply again next year). I like that they offer evening classes for working LPNs. And you're absolutely correct, a nurse is a nurse, I have met a few bad nurses from PHSC but the school isn't to blame. Being a nurse isn't easy and it is something that you should truly want to do and love to do. I believe the bad nurses come from the people who choose this career because of the pay.
But yes, I still want to be a PHSC nurse too! :)
Sending positive vibes to everyone :)
