PHCC Fall 2010 applicants? You out there??

Published

:-)

Well, I am finished with the pre-reqs, as of December. Have taken the TEAS once but will take it again. I have met with a few advisors and one prof in the nursing dept on East. I cannot get any clear and concise information really and it's frustrating. My GPA is relatively low, comparatively (sp?) and I am trying to guage my actual chances of getting into the program. I am only applying to PHCC (either campus) and the not knowing is killing me.

So where is everyone else? I am ready to get my stuff turned in. And then the wait.

I am going to apply for the LPN program for the fall. I have not taken the TEAS test yet pretty nervous. As far as I know you basically have to ace the test. I am taking my Pre reqs for nursing at the present time also. Taking A&P this summer should be intersting. I ve checked into other schools in the area, all of them area wayyy over priced or really far from wher I live.Any suggestions for getting into the program? Or taking the teas test?

May I ask who you are taking A&P II with? I am considering taking at the Dade City campus during the summer.

I will also be applying to bothe the RN amd LPN programs for Fall 2010.

I am taking ***** ***** right now and she is WONDERFUL! She is so sweet and funny, plus she is very clearcut and straight forward. She lectures on only parts of the chapter that she feels are most important and only tests you on those parts. She gives you PPT handouts for each lecture and stays true to those. Last test, I ONLY studied 1. her handouts 2. her study guide and 3. the study guide that accompanies the text. And I got a 98% (and I am NOT an A student, in general) I had heard scary things about her and so didnt want to take her. But now I am regretting not getting her for A&P I!

Thanks, too bad she isn't teaching this summer. Have you heard anything about ******? It looks like I will be in her Monday A&P II class this summer.

as stated in the terms of service:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

the best to all of you! thank you for your cooperation.

Hello everyone!

I was so excited to see that there was a thread about this! I have been working diligently towards this fall and hopefully acceptance :) I finished all of the prereqs this past December with a 4.0. I am currently taking all of the coreqs for the program, aside Microbio and its lab (hoping to take that over the summer). I have taken the TEAS once, and will be taking it again hopefully this upcoming week, but I am slammed right now with school....so we shall see. I was VERY disappointed with my first score; granted, I hadn't prepared for it at all. I scored an 82.4, but there was also a score for an 84. Don't know which one actually goes toward the program, but I am not pleased with either. I am really hoping to score in the 90s the second time around, but I struggle a lot with my math. Surprisingly, I scored the LOWEST on my science portion of the TEAS. Totally blew my mind. I definitely wasn't prepared for all of the questions on Chemistry, but at least I have an understanding of what I need to study the second go-around. Considering that I am applying with a 4.0, I am still not confident that I will get accepted. I really, REALLY want in the 90s to feel secure that I will be starting the program in August. It's such a process to get into the program, and I am so ready to finally be engaged in the curriculum that will set off my career. I am sure all of you feel the same way! We'll have to keep each other posted as the deadline for apps approaches and we pend acceptance. Good luck everyone!

I'm applying also. I haven't taken the TEAS test, but I will next week. Any tips? :) I have a 3.31, which I understand is pretty low. I have a few nurses, fire chiefs and teachers that want to give me recommendation letters, is that allowed?

Taking my TEAS tomorrow (uh technically today since it's past midnight). Finishing up my pre req looks like if I get a B in AP lab it'll be a 3.8? and if I get an A in AP lab it'll be a 4.0 won't know until next monday passes. Can not wait to take the TEAS

Are you sure a B in AP lab will drop your GPA that much? I have a 3.76, and that includes a B in AP, AP lab, and Micro lab.

I took another look at the Gpa calculator at back2school.com and you are right it'll only take me to 3.92....So thanks for making me take another look :)

BTW your Micro Grade will not be included in your Pre Req GPA.

I applied to the bridge program, so Micro's included in the prereqs...I have a 3.76 GPA and got 88.2 composite on the TEAS...What does everyone think my chances are? kchandler, how'd you do on your TEAS?

I'm applying to PHCC and HCC. I finished my PHCC prereqs with a 3.77 and an 88.8 TEAS score. Thinking about taking it again, but we'll see. My only B was in Psychology at another college from back in the day. Also finished AP2 and Micro. If anyone knows where I can find records to compare to HCC, please let me know! Thanks!

Have you turned in your app or are you waiting for Tuesday the last day?

BTW also curious as to other applicants GPA and TEAS scores. I can not wait until June/July to find out what I'm doing in the fall.
