Let's vent a bit. I'm having trouble readjusting to reality after a wonderful Spring Break and am finding my patience wearing down a little quicker than the school year.

I'll start:

Cell phone voice mail that's either not set up or is full. I don't get people that do this... How are you not accessible when you're away from your kids in case of emergency?

Sooo I guess it is ok for them to show a TON of cleavage? Like, if measured, 6 or 7 inches of the upper breast exposed?

I have a hard time agreeing with that. Totally inappropriate in the work world, why is it ok now?

These are middle schoolers. If they showed 6 or 7 inches of their chest, they'd basically expose from their belly button to their clavicle.

I have high school students who are 17 going on 30. I'm not saying that boys should not be held accountable, I am saying that school is not the place to be dressed

with a girls breasts or a boys butt (when they wear REALLY low riding pants) out there for the world to see.

What message do we send them? I'm not here to change anyone's opinion, just state my own.

I have to say I agree with you for the most part but also understand Nana's example.

I hate with a purple passion the up-the-butt volleyball shorts! The girls are always trying to pull those things out of their crotch while trying to hit that ball. Drives me crazy.

I think there should be dress codes. I don't think dress codes negate boys or girls being responsible.

We have had a recent sexting issue at our local high schools. And it is the GIRLS who are sending naked photos to the boys.

With the advent of social media, there is a no holds barred atmosphere.

Agreed. My daughter plays competitive VB year-round. Her club has the option of 2 shorts. One is more like a tight granny-panty that goes to the bellybutton around your waist but then reveals butt cheeks. Most girls choose this one. Ugh.

My daughter likes option two: a spandex biker short that is more low-rider around the waist then has actual legs that she can pull down almost to her knees. The moms tease about her modesty but then finish up their snide comments about how they wish their daughters were as modest. LOL

Either way, the jerseys and shorts are SO snug that all the girls, whether they're slim or heavy are constantly tugging at their uniforms. My girl is 5'4", 95 lbs and all muscle and she tugs at her uniform after every volley and pass. I feel like some kind of pervert watching all these young girls tugging at their wedgies for hours all weekend.

Ok...rant over on VB attire.

As for dress codes, they're fine, just enforce them equally for boys and girls.

YES!!!! I just had this conversation with a parent yesterday!! We were even looking at the volleyball pics from 2000, 2004. They had the spandex type shorts, but were a lot longer.

I know my sister had the butt-hugging kind when she played volley ball in high school. That would have been 1992.

My daughter has been out of high school almost ten years . . . and they wore them then . . . except for her. I made her wear regular athletic style shorts.

I'm a mean mom. Bwaahaaahaa!:sneaky:

Sometimes life reminds me of the story about the Emperor's New Clothes. People stand around and don't tell the truth because they are afraid.

Yeah, and if you insist on wearing thong panties, you can be sure you'll be picking them out of you butt-crack, also! How attractive!

Remember when we used to worry about our SLIPS SHOWING??? :lol2:

I wore a slip. No one seems to know what they are anymore.

Do they even sell slips anymore?? I had to explain to my daughter what a slip is..she literally did not know.

You know, slips could be pretty darn "pet peevy".

For instance wayward or broken straps, and . . .STATIC CLING! :bored:
