Percent Passing Rate

Published

When a particular study guide or program says that they have a 99% passing rate for the NCLEX, what exactly does that mean? Are those people who passed the first time, or eventually.....? Does 99% really mean 99% or is it just clever marketing? I take my NCLEX tomorrow so maybe I am just freaking out.

It means that 99% of those that graduated from their program passed NCLEX on the first try. My school was 100% last semester. Hoping my class can keep it there!

My school also have 100% in the last 3 years. I hope that trend continues

I think she is referring to study programs, not schools.

I would think it is a overall pass rate after using their study materials, not necessarily first write. If it were first write, I bet they would include that, as that would be awesome marketing.

That is a very good question. The only way they would know is if every person that took their course or used their program reported back on their results. I doubt that happens. Also, does it take into account candidates that used other methods in addition to their programs? I doubt that, too.

What do you mean study programs?

Your NCLEX is tomorrow??? Get offline this instant and go get in a warm bubblebath, put on your PJs and read something as far from nursing as it gets!

Chill out time!

Eat breakfast tomorrow before you go. Wear lots of layers so you can adjust to the room temp. Don't forget your ID etc. Get there a little early and don't pay any attention to other people who may finish before you. I was the last one in there, I answered all 275 questions and still passed!!

Go relax, you've done the hard part.

PS..... Suggest putting on PJs AFTER you get out of bath. ;)

The above advise is just what I did. Also, if you have a pair of ear-plugs, I would bring them. When I took my state boards, there was man who sat at the computer directly behind me & coughed/cleared his throat the entire time I was in there. Ocassionally the back of his chair would bang against mine. But, the computer stopped at 76, I was outta there in 45 mins! I passed, so don't worry about it. As I said, I probably hurried because I couldn't stand that annoying man clearning his throat. Plus, I was well rested and I did eat a great breakfast. Best of luck.
