I have started the last year of my ASN program, we had lost maybe 2-3 people in the first year but in the last six weeks we have lost 5 people in our class. Has anyone else had this happen? It has made me very nervous about my standing in the class.
I hope you are not taking about Sacramento State. I applied there and waiting for the result, but what you just said is kind of scary. How come students know about that and still go there? Please let me know if I'm right and you are taking about SacState. Well, I haven't applied anywhere else, but still need to decide.
thank you
I know we've lost some. Not sure how many b/c I'm not really paying attention to it. I did notice when we lost someone from my skills lab group.
There's a paper coming up that's worth 2 test grades. So if you are boarderline failing, this paper can really help. Or hurt if you screw it up.
The really BAD thing? I'm in a diploma RN class. The school I'm at just changed to a BSN program, so we're the last RN class. If you fail out there is NOTHING and I do mean NOTHING to fall back into. You can re-apply for the BSN program, I'm not sure when the cutoff date was for this year, but I think it's already passed. And just because you got into the RN program does NOT guarantee you a spot in the BSN class.
Kind of ramps up the stress level a LOT

Your class lost 10 in one day??? That seems like a really high number. In my AD class, we lost about 3-5 per semester. But we also gained a few each semester that we "resequencing". I have to admit, there were some that I was sure wouldn't make it but some how managed, not sure how. But I think it's pretty normal to lose a few students each semester. Some decide nursing isn't for them, some fail, and some just don't have a clue.
Sometimes you might not know who all is in until the next semester, I know for me personally if I was failing one of my classes with no chance to pass I would just finish out the semester to better prepare me for retaking it.
I think a few people in my class are doing this because with what they have said they have got their would be no way for them to pass.

I'm in my first semester, and we have lost a few people. I'm my opinion most of them did not like nursing. The two we lost last week said it just wasnt for them, and they knew what was right for them. I bet a few just failed out(someone left a test crying) but I don't think the instructors want us to fail, they want us to be PREPARED. I actually had a talk with my instructor about it because someone who became a friend of mine quit and at first it made me question if I was cut out for nursing. I think talking with her made me want it more. It's not easy, but if
