Pearson Vue Trick--trick no more

Published

Hello everyone!

I took the NCLEX RN last Aug 23, 2014 at 8AM. It was my first take on the exam, and was understandably anxious (and scared) to start and get over with it. We arrived an hour and a half before the start time. I checked-in and was assisted by a fine, old gentleman. I got to start the exam earlier than scheduled (they allow it, as long as you are checked-in, you can immediately start). The tutorial sort of calmed my nerves but to my surprise I was trembling when I started reading the first question! It really helped a lot that you have control on your pacing, so I got comfortable as the exam went on. And so it was, my exam stopped after the 75th question. I finished the tutorial, exam and survey in two hours. OMG! Either I passed or failed miserably fast!

I have been reading about the pearson vue trick, how it works, etc. I planned to check on it an hour after the exam. I logged on to the pearson vue website and got the "good" pop-up. Oh my was I on cloud nine. Thank you Lord! Of course, I checked again after an hour or so, and still I got the good pop-up.

Now, it so happens that that day August 23, 2014, there was a scheduled website maintenance from 5:00-11:00PM CDT. True enough I couldn't access the site during those times. But the stubborn in me still couldn't resist checking the site after the said schedule. So I logged in again, but this time, pearson vue had a new "interface", the old one had the register option on the left. The new website had a "START THE REGISTRATION PROCESS" button right in the middle of the page.

I did try to register again, and do the pearson vue trick again. I answered the questions, etc...and then when I pressed the Next button, praying I would still get the "good" pop-up (to reaffirm my "unofficial" passing result), alas, it went straight to the credit card page!!! I felt shivers in my spine, OMG! "Does this mean I failed?", I thought. I was in denial. I thought, it probably was because they updated the website, after all, I still got the "good" pop-up before the scheduled maintenance. I guess I was just convincing myself at that point. I tried again and again and still went straight to the cc page, I was devastated. It didn't help that my result wasn't available that whole weekend. It was agonizing! Did I pass, did I fail? Waaaaaahhhhh!!

But then thank God for quick results, it was available this morning! I was ambivalent to check because I didn't know how would I react. But of course, I'm not the type who prolongs the agony. I went ahead and paid $7.95 and then the result was available on the next page... I PASSED!!! Praise the Lord!

After I finally got the "unofficial" passing result. I tried again to register for the exam...and still it lead to the cc page, even if I already passed!

Hence, based on my experience, the Pearson Vue trick cannot tell anymore whether you pass or fail after AUGUST 23, 2014. Even if you passed or failed, it will still let you start a registration process and lead you to the cc page. Thus, no more so-called "Pearson Vue Trick". I don't know if this is temporary or permanent, but what I know is that it changed when they had that website maintenance. Its sad that we can't rely anymore on this "trick" to reduce our anxiety and get a "quicker" "unofficial" result.

This just means that future takers of the NCLEX RN would have to rely on the "quick results" option (48 hours after the exam) or wait for their official results in the mail to know for sure what their result is.

IMO, PVT probably works 98-99% of the time if "done right". Not unlike some birth control methods. You tell people the method, the pros, the cons, and leave it at that. I am not at "the event to see if you followed the method correctly or incorrectly. When time passes, the results will be evident to all. A sticky may not stop all posts, but it may stop some of the "going back and forth".

I propose the following rule be added to the TOS at all nurses:

"Before replying to threads, you must read them in their entirety before commenting."

Or, at the least, make it through page two.

I took the Nclex-RN yesterday and had all 265 questions. Needless to say I came out feeling terrible. I was hesitant to do the Pearsonvue trick but I just couldn't resist. I had to enter my cc information and I got the good pop up. I'm still feeling some anxiety but praying it's correct and that I passed. Since I took it on Saturday, I probably won't know anything until Monday. Well update you when I know for sure.

I checked the Pearsonvue quick results today and I PASSED! The pvt worked. Super excited.

What is life if you do not take risks? I risked the $200 since I would have to reschedule anyway if I did fail. I got the good pop up but still waiting for results.

I read a lot of these posts from the beginning and it definitely escalated quickly... and then fast forwarded to the most recent.. the last two people convinced me to just do it! And man, was I not disappointed! THE HEAVY WEIGHT ON MY CHEST HAS LIFTED because I got the pop-up. Now with that being said, even if I did fail.. at least I'm happy for the next 48 hrs ^__^! (Hopefully i'll remember to come back and update my status)

I took the NCLEX today and got 75 questions and walked out crying. It was the hardest exam of my life and I felt horrible and lacked any confidence after. So I have checked a couple of times and tried the PVT and i got the good pop up both times. I will keep everyone posted, and hopefully will get my results tomorrow!

Took my NCLEX on Jan 6th and also had 75 questions. I did the PVT right after I got out and got the good pop up which gave me temporary satisfaction... Two days later, I am officially an RN! :) Got to risk it for the biscuit!

I wanted to write this and hope I can help others as this site helped me. I think I'm the latest response to the pearson Vue result trick. I took my nclex-Rn on 01/17/15 and got only 76 questions. I didn't think the test was hard but also didn't think 76 questions were enough for me to pass because I couldn't remember been confident on any of the questions. I got a lot of priority questions and a few of select all. I told my sister It will only be a miracle if I passed because 76 was too definite. meaning I either did great or terrible. All the same I tried to reschedule the test again and had the credit card page, went ahead and put in my credit card info and clicked next but didnt get the good pop up. Then someone at my sisters job had said it really works and that if it let you through then you must have failed. it was a Saturday, I spent all my night reading about the peasonVue trick and how it works and may not work. But like I said I was hoping for a miracle because I thought I had failed no matter how my sister tried to convince me that everybody feels they have failed after the nclex until they have seen their results. I live in Georgia and was waiting for the 48hrs to do the quick check. My sister had recently passed her nclex so I asked her to login to her peasonVue account and try to re-register and see if she gets the good pop up and guess what she had the credit card page, we entered valid credit card info and clicked next and it let her although she had already passed. That gave me a little hope. I took my test on Saturday and my results was available for the quick check on Tuesday but I was nervous to check. I went the whole of Tuesday without checking but eventually checked on Wednesday and I thank God and there was my miracle. I passed. the pearsonVue trick is not guarantee and hope this help relieve some anxiety.

Good luck everyone

Congrats, Spicy, on passing :) FWIW, just about every thread on this forum is devoted to the PVT, and how it works. You can take a look around and see literally hundreds of threads and posts saying the same thing, but nobody seems to read anyone else's posts before posting their own! :D

This trick no longer works. A friend of mine was told recently at a nursing conference by a Pearson rep that this function has been disabled. Anyone and everyone can now register and reschedule the exam, regardless of whether or not they have passed the NCLEX. I found this out the hard way. I took the NCLEX-PN yesterday. The test shut off after 80 questions, and I felt miserable all the way home thinking I had failed. I read about the Pearson View Trick and tried it. I actually paid the $200 and rescheduled the exam. Then I talked to my friend who had just been to the conference and she told me what the Pearson rep said. She then said I could check the Arizona Board of Nursing website and see if my name had been added there yet. So I checked, and, lo and behold, the Arizona Board of Nursing has me listed as a Licensed Practical Nurse, effective Jan. 26, 2015. So I passed, but I'm out $200 thanks to misinformation posted on this and other sites. Hopefully I can get a refund.

Are you sure it was 80 questions? The minimum for NCLEX-PN is 85 questions.

You won't get a refund. When you clicked submit you agreed to the terms of service and for your account to be charged $200...since you passed and didn't need to register for another exam, you technically created a duplicate registration which is specifically prohibited by the service agreement.

Congratulations on passing, though a very expensive lesson and I'm sorry for the stress you endured thinking that you did not pass until you checked the BoN website.
