PBSC/PBCC August 2010

Published

Hi!

The PBSC/PBCC thread is getting a tad crowded so I figure now is as good a time as any to get the prospective students thread going.

Good luck to everyone!

In ref to:

hep B vaccine - Yes, the series takes AT LEAST 6 months. They have to be spaced out. The good news is, you only have to begin the series to start clinicals (or decline them). I think I did mine over a period of almost 2 years.

Physical - I got mine done at the Walgreens clinic for $35, plus $25 for the PPD. The prices mentioned before seem accurate.

Shoes - I saw at least 10 different pairs of plain white sneakers at JCPenney's last time I was there. That's where i'm going to get mine. The average price seemed to be around $60.

HESI - Did anyone else take the HESI today. What a pain in the A**. I thought it was harder than the NLN, for sure.

I took the hesi today too. I was the one that had to switch computers in the middle of the test. I didn't think it was too hard, just extremely long. I felt like it was never ending. Good luck to everyone who still has to take it.

Oh ok. I was the blond guy behind you. Not the guy in the back with the questions. What happened to your computer?

Thanks, I haven't been in a Penny's in a while. I'll check it out.

Do you get the test results right away for the Hesi? Is there anyway to prepare?

Yes, you get the results right there. Don't sweat it, cause it doesn't count for anything right now. It's just like the NLN, except bigger. There are more science and english questions, totaling 10 sections. Included in that is a critical thinking section and 2 personality type sections. I burned through it in 3 hours, with no breaks. If you got into the program, you must have done fairly well on the NLN so it should be a snap. It's just very tedious, with a lot of questions, and you wonder if it will ever end. The added English sections were elementary school stuff. Biology, chemistry and A&P each had their own 55 question section. Math was the usual stuff.

Not a big deal, so don't lose any sleep over it. (also, don't bring anything into the room, including a cell phone, cause you'll just have to take it back to your car. Purses included. I had to put mine in the car.....lol

Nothing was wrong with my computer. The girl next to me was sick or something so Jules sent me a message asking me if I would like to move. How'd you end up doing on the HESI? Are you finished with everything now (uniforms, background, ect.)?

Yea, the whole time I kept thinking "I hope that girl had her PPD already!" I thought she was going to pass out.

I got an 89.something on the test. I think the bio stuff hurt me, cause I never took that and my A&P professor sucked. Oh well.

I turned in my last bit of paperwork this morning, and they already received my drug screen and background from that place. So I'm done. Just have to pick up the uniforms.

Is anyone else taking evening clinicals?

How about you?

I have my physical in a few hours. The only thing I have left is my CPR certification which isn't until August 2nd  I still have to pick out a stethoscope and shoes but I got my uniform. I bougth one set. I just had a baby so I've been in the gym every day trying to lose the weight.

As far as HESI, I got an 89.74. I never took bio and chemistry was so long ago that I miss all the questions about types of reactions. It was pretty easy, especially the grammar. I just hope the girl next to me didn't pass any of her funk my way. I do not want to be sick for my lay days of freedom.

I am. I don't do early mornings. I'm barely functional before my 2nd cup of coffee.

For anyone who hasn't completed their physical and shots yet, my Physician's office has a special available strictly for PBSC students where you can get the physical, the three shots, and the PPD for $80.00, the HepB series are an additional $35 or $45 dollars and the chest X-ray is around $35( if you even need it at all). The office is in Royal Palm beach Beach so let me know if anyone is interested.
