Hi!
The PBSC/PBCC thread is getting a tad crowded so I figure now is as good a time as any to get the prospective students thread going.
Good luck to everyone!
Ok, so I also am new to this page. I am planning on applying for the fall 2011 at PBCC. I missed the deadline for Spring . Well it happens. So I have taken all of my pre-reqs, I still need to take the procalc and the NLN. So far I have 18 points because they dropped the point for sociology, that sucks. They say the max points you can get is 33 I guess 32 since they dropped the point for sociology plus hopefully 10 points for the NLN. Does anyone know yet what the cutoff will be for the fall? I know it might be too early. Thanks
Thanks. I am so confused .... I called the nursing office and asked about the NLN exam. the lady responded "we now also accept the HESI exams as well, many were complaining that they took it for others schools so we decided to accept the scores as long as you have taken all 10 parts." But then on the application it says they will no longer be accepting the NLN.... They are not very helpful....
Thanks for the response....
it will be the (HESI A2) Admission Assessment Exam I lloked through my stuff from the information session and thats what I wrote down.
This one seems more like the TEAS, which I found harder than the NLN.
It had an entire vocabulary section, with usage and spelling, YIKES, I was never very good at that in elementary school, this is why i learned to type early and use spell check
Thanks for the info. I`m going to the information session on the 20th, I guess that will be one of my major points to cover while I`m there..... The TEAS isn`t so bad I thought , I guess it`s ok. I`ve taken it oncem I didn`t study at all and I got like a 75% or something, not too great, but not horrible for a test run I thought. I thought the NLN was way harder than the TEAS. Thanks....
I would get to the info session early if I was you, they had to stop the one i went to last month because too many people were standing in the isle.
it could have been because it was the last one so close to the deadline for spring though.
I made the mistake of taking my procalc right before attending the info session, i had to wait a while for a seat in the testing area, then I rushed myself through only to fail... grrr
it was so different studying on the paper then on the computer, I think its possible to practice on the computers somewhere, i wished i had done that
I had to come back the next day, after taking the NLN, which was so nerve racking I was leaving for New York that night and it was my last chance to take it before the oct 1st deadline. I only got one wrong, the last question :vlin: tiny violin for me
That sucks, being late is horrible, and having to take such an important exam before a trip is even worse. Congrats on your scores . I have to study for that as well. I`m gonna try to be there as early as possible, I work across the street so I hope I can get there quick. Thanks for the info on the procalc. I have to take it. Do you know how many attempts we are allowed? I just spoke to someone different at the nursing office, she said that begining Spring of 2012 the NLN is no longer valid, but it is ok for the Fall 2011..
I`m not sure about the uniforms. I haven`t paid much attention to those....
for the procalc they said you can take it as many times as you want, as long as you get an 85 or better before the deadline.
You do have to pay the 5 dollars each time though
and there is a limit of one attempt per day
you will do fine, it is actually very simple once you get the hang of it
I had never taken a pharm class or done these types of calculations before and I passed on my 2nd try
oh and PS they give you a simple calculator to use in the testing center, which I didnt know till i got there
