PBCC-palm beach comm. college

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of study for the nurse Procalc and the NLN entrance exam for PBCC fall nursing program.

I read on line that this school works on a point system

I was wondering if anyone who has been accepted to the program

(past/Present) student: HOW MANY POINTS DID YOU HAVE TO

WHEN ACCEPTED TO THE PROGRAM.

Anyone with info about the program, would be helpful.

Thanks

Thinking of taking semester 2 online. Does anyone in the upper semesters have an opinion?? I just feel like I have wasted so much time in first semester listening to teachers just reading power-points.

LexiB- I live in Lake Worth. Lets keep in contact and start a study group asap. I have been working with the same 2 ladies for the last 18 months but one is in part time and one did not get accepted. I would love to have a new study buddy as I really need to talk out concepts with another person.

Has everyone taken Pharm? I am taking NUR2140 right now and find it very interesting. I am so excited I love all the medical/science stuff.

Has anyone gotten there packet? I just got an email with my class list but nothing else. I am set to register on the 4th at midnight.

For those of you taking full time at Lake Worth are you planning on taking your lecture online or in class? Why did you pick what you did. Anyone else who has already taken 1st semester please lmk what your recommendation is on that subject as well.

Kim

Hi Kim,

Im a first semester nursing student at PBCC. I decided to take lecture online, and it's been working out well for me. I am also taking Pharmacology on campus on Tuesday nights. It is ALOT of work no matter if you go online, or in class. After talking with some of the students that are in class I have found that many of the students say that the professors just read from the powerpoint presentations, so that sitting in class is somewhat a waste of time. It definitely depends on your learning style, but I would say that online is definitely a good option for those that have to work. Let me know what other questions you have! Congratulations to those that got in:yeah:!! All your hard work paid off! And to those who didn't please do not stop trying! Hang in there, and it will happen for you.

Hey purplevega and lexib.

I too was accepted for Spring. I'm in NE Delray and would definitely be interested in a study group! I'm already panicking well before classes have started!

also, I called about the packet yesterday and the guy said they're on their way and it will be any day. I'm anxiously watching for the mail truck and if I still have nothing Tues, then I'm gonna call freaking out.

and does anyone have any prof recommendations?

Thanks. I have taken everything online thus far so I hope to continue. I am excited and scared. Hopefully our packets will get her soon.

Just butting in to say hello to the PBCC-ers...

Hello!

I will be finishing my pre-req's over the spring and summer and will be applying for admission to the nursing program for Spring '11. ('11! So far in the future!) I'll be taking A&P I and Nutrition online while working full-time. Unless I'm confused, Nutrition isn't required YET, but I am keeping my options open and also ran out of classes to pair with my harder remaining courses. Thus Nutrition.

My remaining pre-req's after Spring will be Micro, A&P II and......... that's it. Thanks to the pointers here, I am now planning to take Pharmacology before actually starting nursing school...

I've read through most of the messages here and really feel for those of you that didn't get in this past semester. And everyone who has shared what their courses have been like and what to expect - you've been a big help!

Nutrition is a requirement at PBCC.

Kim

I believe Nutrition is a corequisite meaning you can take it while in the program. I think...

I would definately consider taking the nutrition course as soon as possible because it is worth a point and could make a big difference! Every point counts. However you can take Nutrition concurrent with semester II but you will be very busy if you are stuck takiing pre/co reqs. But sometimes we have to work with what we have to do! Either way if you are determined you will get through it. The nutrition course is very interesting. Good Luck.

Pickledcookie! Thanks for calling about the packets. I was begining to wonder although we have plenty of time to get things done but I need to spread out costs a little bit.

Lets all post when we get our packets this way if someone doesnt receive theirs it will give one of us the chance to call in. Nothing here today!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at orientation!

I have no packet today either.

Pickledcookie,

Have you gotten your CPR certification yet?

Pickledcookie,

Have you gotten your CPR certification yet?

Yes. I did my certification through AHA and Boca Hospital in the spring. I got extra credit for it.

I haven't gotten my packet either of course. However, the packets you speak of are coming via email correct? I heard they are being delivered through our pbcc email accounts.
