Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of study for the nurse Procalc and the NLN entrance exam for PBCC fall nursing program.
I read on line that this school works on a point system
I was wondering if anyone who has been accepted to the program
(past/Present) student: HOW MANY POINTS DID YOU HAVE TO
WHEN ACCEPTED TO THE PROGRAM.
Anyone with info about the program, would be helpful.
Thanks
off topic
they just laid off 5 ppl at my job. this is crazy!!!
one of the ladies sits in the office where i sit...we see her packing up her stuff. my other co-worker ask her if she was relocating to another desk (we do that sometimes...switch seats) she said nothing.
so me like a dumbass ask her again while she was walking out and she replied" im going HOME". shortly after that they sent out an email saying that they will not be matching 401 this year.
i never taught that the economy would be this bad, and according to the big dogs things are not getting any better. all i can say is trust in the lord and spend wisely...save save save
im a lawyer assistant aka lawyer slave lol.
i file suits for naughty nurses (dont like that i have to do it, but its my job for now).
i work with a staffing travel agency for Nurses. since the econ slowed down a bit hospitals havnt been hiring travelers (duh , it costs them more) so they just stick hire local nurses. so of course that puts a dump on our business.
they laid off the lawyer that i work today too:(
Hi guys, this is my first post and I have quite a few questions.
I'm currently employed in a dead-end desk job with the State of Florida. Seems that the only perk of the position is job security in these rough economical times (it's hit home hard - my mother, a 20year experienced paralegal was laid off in the end of January and hasn't been able to find work since!!). I have always wanted to pursue a position in a health care field, however, working full-time and going to class part-time at the community college seems like it would take AGES to get where I want to be career-wise (degrees, experience, etc)!
I am a bit torn. I am living on measly State salary - which means I am functioning at the Federal poverty level. *sigh* I have not lived at home for the last 5 years (I am only going to be 22 in April) - and I have also been filing as an independent in my taxes. But as most of you know, you are still considered a "minor" until age "24", marriage, or children.. my mother made too much money last year's taxes (even though she is laid off this year) which limits my Pell Grant and Scholarship potential.
I want to start my career! I want to get out there and do my calling (I think nursing would be WONDERFUL for me, and so many people in my life have been encouraging and supportive in my career choice)!
However, from what I've studied about PBCC's nursing program (I am in the process of completing pre-requisites), it is kind of like getting picked from a hat to be accepted! It is my 1st choice, not only because of accreditation and friend's who have completed their program in the past - but becasue of the affordability. I would be able to AFFORD (comfortably) my education and not be stuck with loans for the greater part of my adult life.
I am considering Keiser's program. Instead of a pool system, when you enroll, you are GUARANTEED to begin your core courses once gen.ed. requirements are satisfied. But as mentioned many many times before on this forum (I have used the search function), Keiser is EXPENSIVE! Oh man... $35k?!?!!!!!!!
Anyway, here is where I need advice. Which ever route I decide to take (I'd like your opinions, please) I will also need to maintain a job to pay rent, food, books, etc! Did any of you just take further loans to cover this? Keep a full-time job while in school? What did you all do?
Sincerely,
Your wanna-be-RN,
Athena
The first thing that I would urge you to do is to look at the Board of Nursing NCLEX pass rate for Keiser and PBCC. I perused it this week and besides the Melbourne Campus, I was not impressed with Keiser's pass rate for the amount of money that they charge.
Based on the info you posted, perhaps you should just work on your pre-reqs at PBCC. How many classes do you have to take? me, personally, for the amount of money that Keiser cost and the fact that you will probably have to pay, I would go with PBCC. It seems as if you will have to take loans out for either option but it will be lesser at PBCC. Work hard on your pre-req subjects,t ry to ace they and take one semester at a time. How close are you to BC's North campus...that may be an option for you.

for belle glade it was 18.87 and lake worth i think it was 25. something
but I think belle glade will be more competitive now that its hard to get into LW, we have a full class and there were people that didnt even get in to BG. I think you have to wait to put the app in,, they usually post it when its available... I would suggest you wait and see how you do on nln and then total your points
