PBCC-palm beach comm. college

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of study for the nurse Procalc and the NLN entrance exam for PBCC fall nursing program.

I read on line that this school works on a point system

I was wondering if anyone who has been accepted to the program

(past/Present) student: HOW MANY POINTS DID YOU HAVE TO

WHEN ACCEPTED TO THE PROGRAM.

Anyone with info about the program, would be helpful.

Thanks

Good thinking about BC, however I am living in North Palm Beach County. Wayyy too far of a drive for me.

How many times have you all applied for the PBCC program before becoming accepted?

Have you looked into IRSC? I think some of the classes are online and It's probably closer than BC for you. I am keeping my options open. When I'm done with pre reqs I will apply to IRSC, BC, PBCC and Brevard County.

RNurseHopefull2010 that is a great idea. To apply at all three schools. ..However, driving so far would be a bit of an inconvenience: I don't think my car can make those kind of trips on a day to day basis.

As of now, I'm working on pre&co-reqs... I guess I'll see what happens.

Yeah it is something to think about gas, mileage, wear and tear......but I think all the schools offer the online option for alot of the classes. Just another option to think about for you. Good luck!

Hi guys, this is my first post and I have quite a few questions.

However, from what I've studied about PBCC's nursing program (I am in the process of completing pre-requisites), it is kind of like getting picked from a hat to be accepted!

Welcome retrostar! Here is my advice to you...

Finish ALL the pre reqs for the RN program at PBCC before you apply. Do the best you can on your NLN. It's not like getting your name pulled from a hat. You are chosen based on the number of points you have. Obviously the more points you have the better your chance. Keep working on your pre reqs. Honestly, you're 22...what's your rush? Sounds like you have a decent job. Hold on to it...at least for now.

As far as Keiser is concerned...I ALMOST went that route. I am SO glad I didn't. Yes you will pay $35k for an associate's degree. WHAT!!?? If you can afford it, go for it. You will be done a half a year sooner with their program. In my experience it is EXTREMELY disorganized and I don't think it's worth the loan you will have to pay for many years to come.

I applied to PBCC's RN program last semester and missed it by less than a point. That's ok...I am trying again this semester. I will have even more points than last semester. It may take you a couple of times of applying but like I said, you sound like you have a decent job so what's the rush? You can wait it out.

As far as IRSC is concerned, the main campus is in Ft Pierce. I was thinking of applying there awhile back but there will be times when clinicals are as far away as 60 to 80 miles for me. I'm in Jupiter. No thanks! And to be there at 7am!!?? Nope.

Good luck with your decision. :D

Hello! I'm signed up to take the NLN exam on the 21st of this month.... Any study tips? I've already gotten an NLN pre-entrance exam study guide.... Wicked nervous!!

I want to apply to PBCC for Fall 09. I'm not familiar with the NLN exam, when I was browsing the site it had an exam for March 21st but if Im not mistaken the other one was much later. I live in the central florida area do you guys know if I can take that exam at a different site if there aren't anymore testing dates available before the application is due? And if not do you know the other testing dates (the site is down until the 12th, tried to call but they're on SBreak)?

Yes you can take the exam elsewhere, just have them transfer your score to PBCC (there might be a fee for that). When I was looking i think Pensacola Com College had openings....not sure of the dates tho. But they had plenty of seat openings.

Be sure to check with the school first because they may ONLY reserve seat for THEIR students. If so you might have to go the long route and apply, send trancript to them before you can sit the exam.

Good luck

Thanks alot that was very helpful. I see that Pensacola has testing in April as well as May.

Hello allnurses...I'm a newbie on the website and was wondering if anyone knows the cutoff for Fall 09' at the Lake Worth campus? I will have about 26.6 points and got an 89 on my NLN. Please reply if you have any information, I am really stressed out about getting in and would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance =)

the cutoff for january was 25.04 at lw. august is usually higher. you will probably get in but can you re-take the nln in time? those 2 points can make the difference. good luck.

I would have to wait 6 months to take it over. =/ I actually had to fly to NY to take my NLN because when I tried registering in December it said all the seats were filled which makes no sense because my friend registered in January and she was able to get a spot...Im just really worried, I hope I make it and if not I guess i'll just have to wait the six months, take the NLN over and apply for spring. Thank you so much!
