Passed on the 3rd time...Here's how!!!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hello Everyone!! I would like to start off this thread by telling you all ....DO NOT GIVE UP!!! I took the Nclex 3 times! My first time: September, November, and February. The third time was a charm but it took a lot of studying and practice tests. I have tried everything Hurst, Kaplan, etc. But the reasons why I didn't pass the first two times was because I was not only unfamiliar with the type of questions on the NCLEX but I didn't study the core content correctly....therefore this is how I did it for the 3rd try.....

-I studied Hurst until I knew the content VERY well, I did their remedial course and re-studied my weak subjects

-Did at least 60 NCSBN questions a day

-Completed the La Charity Leadership, Delegation, and Assignment book

-Studied the Exam Cram -NCLEX RN AND the last week before the test I completed the Exam Cram Nclex RN PRACTICE QUESTIONS, which consists of 6 practice tests.

-For pharm I studied the drug endings and answered the NCSBN pharm questions...I believe they have about 60 pharm questions you can practice. READ THE RATIONALE for each questions you complete! Also the exam cram book has a good pharm section as well.

- I decided to resort back to Kaplan practice tests towards the end just to see if my scores were in the 60s and thats how I gauged myself.

I guess you can say I jumped everywhere...but my anxiety took over and I had to make sure I covered myself from all angles. I used many resources but by the test day (22Feb) I was confident enough....I received 75 questions....14 SATA and 2 math questions from what I can remember. The questions DEFINITELY seemed waaaaayyy easier then the first 2 times....so I guess my study approach worked. I also prayed A LOT. Therefore....you all can do it! DO NOT GIVE UP!!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL and GOOD LUCK!! If there are any questions plz do not hesitate to message me! Thanks!

Same here took it 3 times and got all 265 questions every single time but found out today I passed!!

TinFL, I TRULY believe that knowing my content REALLY well helped me a lot...BUT definitely doing questions til I was blue in the face reinforced and gave me confidence. Hurst will definitely prepare you....if you study it well....and doing NCSBN questions reinforces it. Sounds like you are on the right track...study hard..you can do it! God Bless! Good luck!!!

Thanks, I put the Hurst information in to flash cards and I am starting to go through them every night. I also thought that using NCSBN was a good option since the write the exam.

CONGRATS...

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
