Just wanted to give a shout out to all that I took and passed the ANCC Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse exam! I have earned the right to put RN-BC behind my signature.

YAY for you!
I used the PMHN Exam Secrets Study Guide by Mometrix. I'm not a good studier so I found this book very helpful. Cuts out the fluff and has some common sense tips at the end that really helped me to focus. I used a similar book by the same company to study for the NCLEX a few years back.
Thank you everyone :)

I don't always sign BC...it depends on my mood. But for the first couple of months after passing the exam, I signed anything and everything with it :)

Congrats on passing your exam! I remember being so nervous when I took it and thinking that I was 100% positive that I had failed the exam and when the PASS showed up on the printout I was over the moon. For the first day I was at work I signed everything as RN - BC and then I got lazy and now I only have it on my e-mail signature and on my resume lol.

Hi! I noticed you work in psychiatry nursing. I am about to graduate with my BSN and want to know if you could give me some advice on the path to take. I would like to work in a psychiatric facility and obtain my PMHNP. But I am not sure if I should work as an RN first or just go straight to the next step.
Many nurses believe you should work med surge before mental health. I haven't and have very little regrets. If your looking towards a future NP in mental health, then working in mental health will give you the perspective you need to really know if that's the path you want to explore. Good luck!
