  1. I dont think it is a violation simply because Guided tours are done at requests daily at most places. No patient info or names should be given out and things such as this but a tour is not from what I have witnessed.
  2. I was a new Grad 2 years ago, I was hired on at an LTC. I just got hired on at a mental hospital and although it has only been 2 years since graduation I don't feel comfortable in an acute hospital setting. I feel you lose anything you do not use and my 2 years at an LTC I feel I have lost alot of my quick critical thinking skills I felt I was strong at. Who knows how I would react in the actual situations but I feel like I have lost it... My advice is work in Acute care of your set on working in the ER, you never know though you may go to the hospital and decide you love psych! Good luck.
  3. awesome, Congrats! I never have had an official interview until the same week you had one. I thought for sure I bombed it because I sounded so unsure of myself, I was so nervous! Glad you got hired! Congrats again! :)
  4. congrats!! :)
  5. I plan on using the same type of badge holder as above. I start May 5th
  6. I agree, I would interpret that as 2 separate orders. I too would have asked, I was always the nurse calling our Pharmacy to check things, as I am still new myself lol
  7. well she is in the LPN board, we should be able to speak freely, even if she did offend someone such as a CNA. I see that she didn't mean offense to a CNA but we went to school, got a few more letters behind our names and should be able to be proud! Anyways, Set up and demand your respect, you probably allow them to treat you this way, I worked in LTC and I had to harden my backbone :)
  8. I have no advice on the thank you note, I have also heard it makes you stand out. Good luck gota love Mon-Fri :)
  9. I worked in Fla as a CNA and now an LPN, At the local area hospitals the CNAs could take the blood sugars as long as they had the training through the hospital, but in the local area nursing homes, NO CNAs were allowed to do finger sticks at all and it was the same for all of them in my county that I am aware of :)
  10. I had 3 days and your learning NEVER ends. 3-5 days is enough to get you oriented with the cart and the beginnings of the process. They is always someone around to ask questions to. I have been employed on my first LPN job for almost a month and still have at least 1 question a night. :) OH and I had 4 nights training.
  11. I am in central Florida, I make as a new LPN 16.49 but my company doesnt offer shift diffs. I work 11-7 and every weekend, other companies would be paying me at least 3$ more for that from what I have heard.
  12. I am a newly licensed LPN in a LTC unit, not the acute side and I need my RN for everything I am not allowed to do. RNs are treasured in my LTC unit :)
  13. I will tell you this, I worked for 2 yrs as a CNA at a LTC facility and the nursing staff and us CNAS were always bickering, they had favorites it was just a mess. But I am now working as an LPN at a different LTC and the CNAs all respect the nurses and each other, the nurses are great to each other. Maybe choose another facility. That can make a ton of difference. Find one who "meshes" with you :)
  14. NCLEX was by far not the "hard part". I feel you havent learned anything but the basics. As I am also a new nurse just licensed in July. I have my first LPN and job for 3 weeks now and I have only touched the tip of the iceburg of learning.
  15. hang in there. Are you keeping your availability open? I was very fortunate to get a job within 2 weeks of passing my nclex. I think the only reason I did was because I called a place and changed my availability to 11-7 and they hired me that day! You will find something but be persistant do alot of calling and checking on your app and marketing yourself to the buildings. They will overlook an application if another person is calling with interest.
