I passed all my pcs's with no repeats and i passed all labs with no repeats except for the IM/SQ station. Now while you may be thinking "hiw in the WORLD did she fail the easiest station?!" let me tell you, i think thats the only time in my entire cpne that i felt i was possibly being failed inappropriately. I do not want to blame the staff for anything, because i cant stand those people who blame it on the instructors, but my fail was reversed after the ca heard what happened. (THANK GOD!!)

Let me say that i arrived the day before on Thursday aug 25 and thank goodness i did since my flight from washington dc to syracuse was delayed by 4 hours!! Ugh... Well i get there and get settled.called my husband, Chris, crying bc i missed my two small children already.

Fri Aug 26- regrouped and gathered my thoughts, refocused (lots of tgat this wkend with the help of anjule- my lifesaver!). Went to the hospital to make sure i knew the route and where the lobby was since the hospital is massive. Grabbed lunch, groceries for room, and headed back to hotel. Practiced stations for about 4 hours. I brought all my supplies, ALL. I had ivs hanging with a hanger in my shower and the wound and rest on the desk. Went to the hospital at 330p since we were to be there for 430p but read several posts about ca's being early. We were oriented to the process and filled out paperwork. Bonnie our CA was amazing. I really liked her and all the CEs except one gave me the stink eye constantly later on sunday morning. We go through each station and are told quite a bit about each station. For my 15mins to play with supplies, i tried on two different branda of the sterile gloves, looked at the wound depth, medications, etc. I pass all of my labs with no repeats except for the im/sw station where i was given im. I did dorsogluteal and as soon as i put the needle in the mannequin the ce looks to me as im pushing fluid in and says "did you hit bone? as she withdraws the entire syringe and barrel (my face was like what?? Im pushing med in how could i??") so i respond no i dont think so and she calls for the ca to come over stating i hit bone and am failed. So i start crying bc im mad at myself- ive given im injections to my husband tons of times and coworkers too. So the ca comes over apologizes but i failed i sign the paper and have to walk out bc im crying. I get my first pcs info and get back to the hotel. I call anjule- again my lifesaver- crying about the im. She encourages me and makes me buck up. Hard but im still homesick too from talking to my kids on facetime. Stay up to write careplan. OH... And Did i mention when i left the hospital from stations tgat night i had a missed call from an 800 number. Listened to the voicemail and found out my flights from syracuse to washington dc and washington dc back to my home were both cancelled due to the hurricane!!! So i had no flight home either!! Felt like everythimg was going wrong!!

Saturday i had my first and second pcs- passed both, but that wait for the results.... I was thinking did i do this, did i do that, what if this, i think i passed but what if i didnt?, etc. Nerves get you! So off to repeat my im and i passed the first i was told but it was bc the ce should Not have taken the needle out prior to placement verification since it was a failure the ca had to confirm a fail. So big huge massive sigh of relief!!! I cried like a baby and bonnie was great about it. Sunday i past my third pcs which was a pedi. After i passed i went downstairs and received my congrats letter and was told my grad date was october 21. So i finally got a flight home on sunday night- down to the wire. I am finishing this as i sit in the airport on my way to get home. Il try to write more in a day or two but if there are any questions just let me know. Id love to help and i know from searching for previous syracuse testers that they are scarce. My email is [email protected] i hope this helps a bit byt more details to come..... Soooooo glad its over. Too much of an emotional rollercoaster!!! Cant wait to pass nclex and finally get those RN initials!!! Thank you all for all the responses and support. Its more appreciative than you know. Anjule-- omg you know you are my rock!! You have been there for me and thru this more than i EVER would have imagined when we first talked a few mos ago!! You are next girlie!!!!
