Good morning. Are there accelerated programs out there that offer a part time option, particularly in the Maryland, DC, va area. Thanks.

I don't know but I seriously doubt it. That would kind of defeat the purpose of being an accelerated program now wouldn't it?

I think a part time accelerated program would just be a standard program.
There has to be a middle ground. If a person wants to work, they have no choice but to choose a 4 yr program? I believe I can work and still complete a program in less than 4 yrs. I may just have to do an accelerated program and find the time to work because I can't do a 4 yr program...

You can find time to work while doing an accelerated program.
I don't know about other programs, but in my school during the fall and spring terms I had class only 2 days a week.

The accelerated program at my school requires students to sign a contract stating they will not hold a job while enrolled in the program. The classes are 9 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Other than the pace, what makes an accelerated program accelerated, is that only nursing classes are required. If you have a bachelors in something else, most of the non-nursing classes for a BSN will likely be met by courses you took for your degree.
If you look at the program schedule for a traditional BSN, many only have the nursing classes for the last two years.....if you have your pre-reqs done, it's conceivable that you could apply to one of those and only take the nursing classes.
Now, whether their schedule would be conducive to working full time....that you'd have to speak with folks in specific programs.
So, long story short.....it's unlikely a traditional program would take you 4 years if you already have a bachelors degree.
