I just had an interview on Monday for a nurse resident position in the NNICU. This is my dream job and I want it SOO bad, but I feel like I did not shine as bright as I could in my interview because all the questions were those situation one "tell me about a time...". I still think it went well I just wish I would have said more. I already work on a different floor as a student/tech, so I don't know how much that will affect whether or not they choose me. Any current employees or other people who applied have any information on the residency/hiring process? Is the medication test only if you get offered a position? Thanks for any feedback.
For some reason I can't PM, but you can email me at [email protected]
You should be able to receive pm's now, but you won't be able to send pm's until you have 15 posts.
What kind of questions did they ask? Like what were the scenario questions? Im just starting nursing school in January, and I want MORE THAN ANYTHING to get the Parkland residency... I have two years to prove myself, but I need to know from you guys what would be good to get in with them. I've thought about getting a part time job working there while Im in school. I do know that school is a full time job even though Im only taking 8hours, but I am willing to do whatever I have to do to get that residency. Its right up my ally... who wouldn't wanna learn about all the different areas of the hospital?
Yea, all the questions were "tell me about a time when you had a difficult patient" and things like that. I think its called situational interview or behavioral? You can look it up for all kinds of example questions. Also, I know you are barely about to start, but you can consider trying to get a job as a nursing student there after you finish your first semester. That's what I am did (still do). Its prn so you basically work once a week or as much as you can and its good experience while you are in school. Start looking probably in march for them to post those positions.
I think it went well....better than the first one I had. It felt much more comfortable, not as many situational questions, and more typical questions like goals, about me, things like that, which I liked bc it gave me a little more opportunity to sell myself. The residency sounds pretty intense I really hope I get accepted. They are making calls the week of Thanksgiving........I hope I will have one more thing to be thankful for!
Idk, I have had two interviews and I never received any information about the test for either one. They had said to wait until you receive the study guide before scheduling the test but I never got it so I am prob going to call to find out about that. I emailed someone and never got a response from them.

Yea, luckily the recruiter was the same for L&D. I scheduled my interview for next Thurs, so I intend to be VERY prepared for this one! I was telling one of my friends about my interview, which initially I had thought it went well, but she is a business major and has taken classes about interviewing and stuff and she talked through it with me and the areas that I probably did not give good answers and stuff, so hopefully this next one will go much better.
