Parkland Dallas, TX Nurse Residency Spring 2018

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Have been looking around in search that there might have been a thread started for the current application period for Parkland Hospital Dallas, Tx Nurse Residency for Dec 2017 grads, but have not seen one so decided to start this one. Is there anyone else out there that is applying to their program im interested in ICU and ED. I have always admired the willingness of the hospital staff when it comes to educating students and new hires, not to mention all the excellent experience that can be gained in this hospital. I am currently an LVN going into the last semester of transition graduating Dec 2017 (Thank you Lord), and have found a love with the ICU and the way it pushes me to think, adapt, and evaluate situations of the human body. So who out there is ready to get this thing going and be the best nurse possible??

Oh wow that was fast! I applied really late and I think they really go by the first ones who apply. Lolim ok with that though it not really where I want. Have you heard from L&D or asked about it? Did your status date change on your application?

I applied to the ER late, too. I wasn't getting my hopes up too much for it. I love the ER and women's health. My only concern with the ER is getting attacked by patients. But I have not heard anything back for L&D. And the day I applied, I happened to talk to the recruiter about the alternate NICU list. I didn't realize she was the recruiter for NICU and L&D. So the day it posted, I applied, told the recruiter I applied and she told me, "I will send it in before I am off this evening" so I wouldn't know if mine was looked at because IF she really did send it in, it would have been look at the same day, 10/20. Hope that makes sense.

Update for L&D: Recruiter just called and they perfer BSN for L&D which I do not have. Not that they won't consider ADN, but they will look at them first.

She called you or you called her? And dang that sucks, but you never know you could end up there. Do you have the recruiters phone number?

I'm so glad this thread was started! I applied to NICU and just applied to ER and L&D. I was not offered the position for the NICU. :( HUGE BUMMER. So now it's a waiting game.

Did your status change on your application after you found out? Just wondering because I interviewed 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything and mine still says "reviewing all applicants."

I emailed her this morning and she called me. When I get home I can give you the number.

Unfortunately, it did not change. It still says reviewing all applicants. Those who were offered the position have already been notified from my understanding. They have an alternate list if those who are offered end up declining... but... I doubt many will decline especially since they only had 12 spots available this time around.

Hey guys! I am interviewing for the Nero ICU/PCU Graduate Nurse Residency on November 14th!

AWESOMESAUCE congrats I hope that you snag it. I have 2 in for MICU/PCU and one for SICU that haven't moved, the status changed on the 20th to "reviewing all applications" but that's all, starting to think maybe they don't want ASN for the positions and I'll be forced to start on med surg í ½í¸«.

Thank you! I attend college in Missouri so I'm flying down for the interview. I also applied to SICU and the status is also "reviewing all applications." I know Neuro ICU/PCU stated "BSN" in the title but I can't remember if SICU did too. Hopefully you at least get the chance to interview! Honestly, some of the best nurses I have learned from have had their Associates instead of Bachelors. If you did start in Med Surg you would have a great foundation but I totally understand the desire to not do Med Surg. I have thought about applying to Med Surg as well because Parkland is one of my top choices. Good luck!

Congrats on your interview and I really hope you get it! I got offered an interview for the L&D residency but the date hasn't been confirmed because I just sent in my top 3 dates.

I would call and ask if they take ADN for those floors because I think the floors may be different with accepting ADN or BSN.

Yes some of them are but I was told if the floor wants BSN only they will state it in the post. I have also applied to some other hospitals in the are as well as Houston and Austin but I really enjoy the way Parkland teaches and embraces is transitioning and new to nursing GNs. Congratulations on the OB when will you know something?

I was also interested in Austin, did you apply for GN positions on the Seton website?
