Just wondering what kind of things i can expect to pay myself? I know from my other jobs at the school, your budget doesn't cover all the expenses. I already know I will probably be buying:
Snacks/crackers
Underwear/socks/pants/hats/gloves - (I know the nurses office gets donations, so I'll just fill in where needed)
tampons/pads (not sure on this one)
What else?
Oh, my school is K-12, so all ages :)

None of the above. your school budget and/or parent group will support these needs. I would caution against starting out by dipping into your own funds.

Truthfully, I do spend money on a few "extras." Most needs are met by my budget.
I buy Hall's Breezers throat drops, Club crackers and at times Gatorade or Ginger Ale.
I also buy seasonal decorations for the health office.

I buy extra for my office - decorations and different colored dry erase markers for my white board. Every once in a while I will pick up crackers and forget to submit the receipt, but everything else is covered by my budget. My school has a students-in-need fund I can dip into for specific items for low income families like clothing, glasses, etc. Families can be very generous if you need something! We have asked for donations like clothing, hand sanitizer and gotten an overwhelming response.
I put together my bulk supply order carefully at the end of the school year for the next school year; it is hard to tell what you will use in a new position, but going into my third year, I have a pretty good grasp on what I need and how to stretch my budget. And pads/tampons is always on the list and budgeted for .

i try not to use my own money to buy stuff for my office. I have gotten a bag of peppermints at the grocery store before and i suppose one notable purchase is my 10 drawer paper cart which i purchased on sale at big lots!! makes filing a breeze since i have a drawer for every grade pk-8. But if i were to leave this school that would go with me, along with my other little personal effects (Cowboy Jake on my desk, my collection of potion bottles and my dancing hula girl)

The only thing I buy is SALTINES and I have a big jar of peppermints and hard candies.
Everything else is in the budget.
Did you have a saltine??? HAVE A SALTINE!!!

As long as you save three of them a day for yourself.

I buy none of the above as well. All provided by the schools except clothes and we get lots of donations from churches. The only thing I spend my own money on is sometimes decorations or cool office supplies the schools don't have. Every year we get some faculty senate money to spend how we want and with that I'll buy things I may educate with or some type of item I may need for my office like a bandaid holder or something. It's usually around $100 I'm given so nothing major. It has to be something I use at the school and leave there if I'd ever leave. It can't be anything personal like a briefcase. I know the teachers spend a lot more out of pocket so I feel fortunate I don't have to. I do however spent at least $150-200 a year on flower funds (I have 2 schools), baby gifts, retirement donations, donations for kids in trouble or whatever, Christmas cards, secretary and bosses day, etc. All that adds up!
