Our governor has decided to lift all the state mandates re: mask wearing and business operating capacity.  Now we wait for TEA to decide how schools respond.

I am in an area where Spring Break is highly celebrated by vacationing college students due to our beach.

My son's Texas college does not have a Spring break. They are taking 5 days off throughout the Spring semester.

Philadelphia is also relaxing restrictions. Makes me wonder if some politician is getting ready for re-election.

I think I see a relation with restrictions and how it impacts on professional sports. Huge money making industry that's been losing money thru decreased fan attendance. PRO BASEBALL IS STARTING!!!

Also March Madness for collegiate basketball is gearing up. It was cancelled last year. Huge loss of water-cooler sports betting & related activities.

Couldn't loosing up restrictions wait for just a couple months more???

I believe TPTB are banking too much hope on the premise of widespread vaccination to be the grand cure-all. BIG MISTAKE!

I am in texas, but thought the same thing about Florida. I am so disappointed in our governor, especially doing this during Spring break when we see a lot of travelers. Thankfully I think our school district will continue to require masks, but if students and their families are exposed everywhere else then I suspect we will see a surge here. JUST when things seemed more manageable. IMO this was his attempt to take the spotlight off the Winter storm energy crisis Texas went through recently.

Florida (businesses anyway) don’t enforce any mask mandate. I recently got vaccinated and had to go to the store for some essentials I couldn’t get online ordering so I did my shopping, fully vaccinated, in a mask- I saw people in the grocery store with either no masks or only covering mouth, below nose. I have taken my child out of brick and mortar school and did online- got a school testing notice to go to local zoned school to test. Was told by her scheduler that it wasn’t needed for grade promotion for her grade and no penalty  for not showing up...I didn’t become a home school teacher/home working nurse to give her covid for some stupid test-she will not be attending. Yeah, I can’t really see how social distancing (if possible per letter) would occur and masks be enforced. I also know that many parents dose their kids with fever reducers and cold medicine so they can drop them off and go to work....gotta love responsible millennial parents.

Had a parent state "Now that masks are not required, we are going to send our kids back to school" - SERIOUSLY???

Dumb statements like this just puzzle me.  As said in other threads, I am not seeing transmission with kids/staff wearing masks.  You want to send your child unmasked?  Does NOT make any sense.  No wonder our president called us Neanderthals ?

This is very sad as without the government’s backing it is hard to enforce any COVID safety measures. I just hope Texas doesn’t see another surge.

My sister-in-law told me she wasn't sending her kids to school this year (chose homeschooling) then I found out it's because she doesn't feel comfortable making her kids wear masks.  They see all their friends (plus strangers) in the neighborhood at the park daily. ?
