Hey everyone :)
So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:
Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens
Possibly considering RPN programs as well.
Hey, so I'm going to be applying to the second entry programs next Fall. I'm wondering how the last two years work. I'm going to be taking a summer semester (honestly, I took physics and want to void my 3rd year first semester because of the c+), and was wondering if this is what they would use:Third Year 2nd Semester
Third Year Summer Semester
Fourth Year 1st Semester
Fourth Year 2nd Semester
This is what I'm assuming they would use, as I've read applicants typically get accepted from Feb - June. Also, I had a really bad first year and failed 2 courses (a lot of family/mental health issues), but still currently have a cGPA of 3.2, and aiming for a 3.8 this semester and onward. Does anyone know if that will impact my chances
I'm also graduating with a certificate/diploma in Disability Management and Interdisciplinary Health studies that goes on my transcript.. anyone know if this will help me?
Also, has anyone applied to four year programs as back up? I am graduating with a Kinesiology degree and have so science credits and electives (some even transfer to nursing credits).
Hey! I had a cGPA 3.48, but third year was a 3.9 and last year was a 4.0. I also have a Master's, but most schools do not take that into account (except maybe UofT and Western). I have gotten in everywhere I applied to so far (waiting for McMaster and York), so I think you'll have a decent shot if your current term ends with a 3.8 and up for final year (which would bump your cGPA up from 3.2 maybe near to what I had). Extracurriculars will also really help for some schools!
But I don't think they take into consideration the fourth year 2nd term grades in terms of offers, since the courses are still in progress during the evaluations. So I agree that you should take the upcoming summer semester. It's unfortunate that most of the universities don't really have a section where you can explain any troubles you had, but I hope everything is better with you now.
@tdmah I saw your private message but because I have not posted enough I am not able to send one back. My email is [email protected] :) so excited to start in the fall at UofT!
