Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

Awww no problem!

I mean you taken that course in first year and if you did well in your upper year courses, you should be fine! ? It's all about showing growth and improvement!

thank you so much! I just added that instituition into OUAC and requested a transcript from there. Do you think it is okay that I made a change on OUAC?

It might delay the application process but it should be okay!

Its been making me so nervous! I wanted to stay within thee GTA so I applied to York, Nipissing, and UofT, but knowing York may start sending them out so soon makes me nervous! Also in an e-mail from Nipissing I heard they are trying to get decisions out as soon as applicant files are completed, so I guess no interview and maybe we will hear back earlier!

Where did you apply?

Oh my god so nerve wracking! I'm sure you'll get in ?

I applied to Western and McMaster and because I'm from New Brunswick, I've also applied to UNB and Dalhousie!

Same to you! What made you decide you wanted to come Ontario and specifically to those schools? I've heard lots about the UNB program which ran through Humber, it sucks they discontinued it for this year!

OMG I feel you with this!! I applied last year to one school and got rejected but I’m hoping I’m not in the same boat this year. Good luck to all of you who’s applying and stay safe ?

I feel so nervous! Where did you apply to this year, and if you don't mind me asking what your GPA was like last year when you applied and where you applied to last year as well? Hopefully things will be different this year for you and I really do hope you get in! ?

I applied only to u of t last year but my supp app was very bad despite having really good ecs and volunteering. I didn’t expand on my experiences and didn’t make the personal statement personal at all. The GPA I had last year was like a 3.5 because I was in my final year so they didn’t have all my grades so they definitely used a semester from my third year which was poor. But now since I’m graduated and they have all my grades for my final year my GPA is a 4.0 for my final year. But I heard u of t is very holistic and that grades are not that important because they look holistically at your app including your personal statement and references. In a previous year someone got in with a 3.33 GPA! Good luck with your apps ! Thanks so much for your wishes !

Personally for me, I've always lived at home hahaha. I went to UNB, which is in my hometown and just lived with my family this whole time! (of course I love spending time with my family and not cooking ?).

However, I also believe that I want to study in Ontario due to wanting to experience living in a different province that's not in the Maritimes. I want to meet new people, learn to live independently, and I believe Ontario has one of the best nursing schools in Canada!

Hey, I agree with reporting all unis you went to to OUAC. I think it's still fine you made an amendment on OUAC, since that is not part of the sup app (which I think can't be changed). As long as a copy of transcript is submitted on time, the original can come in after deadline.

I'm waiting for my university in Asia to send an original transcript to UofT - they haven't confirmed if it's been processed so I'm a bit nervous!
