Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

Re CASPer

For those who applied to McMaster, I just realized that CASPer is not on my list of requirements in MOSAIC. I double checked that I requested CASPer to send results to Mac. Is it on yours?

My Nipissing WebAdvisor has been updated, saying received for all requirements apart from Anatomy, which is in progress, and CASPer, which is still blank

Thank you so much! This is very helpful! I actually haven't started reading yet but really hoping to start tomorrow. I was able to buy a book - same 14th ED but it says EMEA edition; not quite sure yet if there's any difference.

Do you find the tutor/acad experts helpful? I am hoping to chat with them as early as Feb 1 to talk about my goals/schedule.

Honestly I'm finding in this course with AU (it's the second one I've taken with them) my tutor is not particularly helpful ? . It took two weeks for her to answer my question. I had originally asked it via email, then when a week went by I followed up, she then told me I needed to ask the question "through FST SSC", which I then did, and finally got a response to THAT a week later. I always emailed my tutor in the previous course so I had no idea that I needed to go through this other forum to ask questions. So something to be aware of! My previous tutor also gave us a bunch of review sheets and advice. I feel like each one is different and sometimes you get better ones.

Same here. Not expecting to get in given the email we got a few days ago saying there were over 800 applicants LOL

Hi everyone!! so glad someone has finally started this group chat!!

I graduated in 2020 and I am currently doing a post grad year to get some pre-reqs in!

here is where I applied in order of where I would love to go! UBC, UofT, Queens (Alum), Western and then University of Ottawa! I am super nervous because my overall GPA is kinda trash but my GPA in my fourth year of studies was a 3.9 so fingers crossed!

Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Hey,

what kind of post grad courses are you taking? My GPA is pretty bad so I am thinking of doing the same. Good luck and your GPA is really good

Hey! I believe for Western their wording is "university-level" for the credits and prerequisites so I feel like non-degree credits could be accepted! I'm not 100% sure but you can email Rachel Curran ([email protected] ) if you have questions about uwo BScN or check out https://www.uwo.ca/fhs/nursing/undergrad/bscn_ctf/admission.html Rachel is an undergrad assistant and she's v nice!!

For mac, I see what you mean since it says "degree credits" on thier site but you can always email [email protected] to double check with them!

Good luck with your applications Tajana ?

Hey this might sound stupid but one last question. at ryerson 1 credit means 1 course, does that mean I cant take 10 courses at ryerson and that will be enough for uwo to look at for the compressed program? Sorry for thr confusing question

Hey!! So I did my undergrad in sociology and philosophy! I am currently taking Biology, Physiology, Chemistry, English and a Psychology class. These are just some required courses that the programs need.

It's not stupid don't worry! So at western we take 5 half credits each semester (or a combination of whole credits and half credits) so a whole academic year equals 5.0 credits. I'm not sure familiar with the Ryerson system but you just need a total of 2 years with 5 courses each semester.

I.e. in my first year I took 3 full year courses (3.0) and 4 half year credits (2.0) but this year I'm talking 10 half years for my 5.0. Combined, they are acceptable for the 10.0 western needs!

Does anyone know when we should start getting responses??

Hi everyone,

I'm applying to UofT (among other schools) and am having some concerns about submitting the supplemental application. I have enough references already, but my boss is supposed to fill one out for me, I've been reminding him frequently and he just hasn't filled it out yet. It's currently Saturday and the supp app is due Monday (Feb 1), does anyone think it'll be too late if I submit it Monday morning or Sunday night? Because of processing times or anything? I'm just not sure and I don't want to jeopardize my application because of a reference ? any insight is appreciated.

Hey ! You can submit your supp app now ! References can be submitted until feb 1st but you don’t need to wait for the reference to submit the supp app! Hope this helps!
