Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

I applied only to u of t last year but my supp app was very bad despite having really good ecs and volunteering. I didn’t expand on my experiences and didn’t make the personal statement personal at all. The GPA I had last year was like a 3.5 because I was in my final year so they didn’t have all my grades so they definitely used a semester from my third year which was poor. But now since I’m graduated and they have all my grades for my final year my GPA is a 4.0 for my final year. But I heard u of t is very holistic and that grades are not that important because they look holistically at your app including your personal statement and references. In a previous year someone got in with a 3.33 GPA! Good luck with your apps !

You defiantly sound like a competitive applicant, and I'm sure you've improved your sup app from last year to this year! But that was sort of reassuring I am finishing my sup app tomorrow so I will keep that in mind! I hope you get in this year, we will hear back from them in June! ?

So random but is anyone else super on edge and nervous haha! From creeping past forums some schools may start sending acceptances out soon! I feel like its consuming me ?

I'm so nervous! I'm trying to focus on my AP course but I'm struggling! All the best to us!

Personally for me, I've always lived at home hahaha. I went to UNB, which is in my hometown and just lived with my family this whole time! (of course I love spending time with my family and not cooking ?).

However, I also believe that I want to study in Ontario due to wanting to experience living in a different province that's not in the Maritimes. I want to meet new people, learn to live independently, and I believe Ontario has one of the best nursing schools in Canada!

I defiantly understand this! I lived at home too through my undergrad, its defiantly been a plus having family around and not having to cook either ? Hopefully you will get accepted in Ontario, and if things start to look a bit better COVID wise you get to really experience how great Ontario is!

Hahaha we definitely saved a lot of money for staying home ?

And OMG I'm praying classes are in-person!

Me too, that and clinical placements I'm hoping they don't get canceled! I know programs like Nipissing have placements starting in fall of first semester and I'm really wondering how they're doing that

For anyone who already wrote the CASPer test, did you complete the snapshots portion?

Hey ! I'm currently working in a hospital (Ontario) and student placements are still very much in full swing so I wouldn't worry about that too much! There was only a short period of time where we couldn't have any students coming in but that has passed and things have resumed

yeah mine says still outstanding but other schools got my casper a couple days ago so they probably still need to update it!

Hey! I messaged admissions today, they said they didn't get a chance to update casper results yet, so thats why we don't see it yet. They have slowly been updating my supplementary application info, so I'm sure we will see that updated soon as well.
